World of Warcraft is changing the iconic Diplomacy racial trait for Humans to no longer increase faction reputation earnings in The War Within. With many reputations becoming account-wide in The War Within, World of Warcraft is making this change to make sure players don’t feel required to play Humans in order to get an edge for their account.
Humans are one of the most popular races in World of Warcraft history. Beyond the fact that they are ingrained in the original conflict of the Warcraft franchise, their broad class availability and useful racial abilities were big factors in their popularity. Diplomacy, one of their passive racial traits, is especially helpful, as it increases all reputation gains by 10%, making one of the longest grinds in the game much easier.
However, after nearly 20 years, this Human racial ability is being changed to no longer interact with reputation. WoW: The War Within is overhauling reputation with the Warbands system, which makes most factions from Dragonflight onward shared across an entire account. In an effort not to force players to play Human characters to boost their Warband reputation gains, it is changing this racial trait to provide a different bonus.
That said, this change isn’t being implemented until the Warbands system is implemented, meaning players have until theWar Within pre-patch, or possibly even the expansion’s launch, to use the old Diplomacy. Almost every Dragonflight reputation, including the six Renown factions, are being made account-wide in The War Within, so fans that haven’t maxed out these factions yet can do so 10% faster on a Human. Older World of Warcraft factions will also be retroactively made account-wide in future updates, so players should cash in on this bonus while they still can.
While Human fans are sad to see this classic racial bonus go away, the account-wide reputation change is exciting enough that it's hard to be too upset about it. Warbands in WoW: The War Within include many alt-friendly features that World of Warcraft players have been requesting for years. This change may be a tough pill to swallow for fans who rolled Human specifically for Diplomacy, but the tradeoff of not having to grind up many reputations on multiple characters more than makes up for it.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflight was developed by Blizzard Entertainment and is the ninth expansion pack for the iconic massively multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft.
Dragonflight features an overhauled user interface, raises the level cap to 70, and introduces a new race and class.
