Valve's rumored Overwatch rival has 19 playable heroes, Bioshock Infinite-esque rails, and Dota-style lanes in allegedly leaked footage

Phantom Line was possibly one of the most impressive showcases featured in Summer Game Fest 2024's PC Gaming Show.

A new Warbond is on the way to Helldivers 2, and it’s the first step in Arrowhead shaking up the game’s update schedule. The Viper Commandos Warbond is themed after jungle combat — camo prints, red berets, bare arms, throwing knives, skull masks, and everything else you can equip while CCR’s “Fortunate Son” blasts over a speaker nearby.

You can never be too sure that a newly announced multiplayer shooter is going to be able to get too much eyes on itself, especially given the level of competition that exists in that particular space, but Marvel Rivals has certainly done a good job of making its presence known. The Marvel license has obviously helped out greatly, but ever since its announcement earlier in the year, NetEase’s 6v6 hero shooter has also looked genuinely promising in its own right.

Roguelike FPS Wild Bastards is the space western follow up to 2019’s Void Bastards. It takes some of that game’s ideas, mainly those related to shooty and looty, and reforms them into a largely different can o’ campfire beans. This time, it’s less focused on exploration, more on individual, tense shoot-outs. You collect a cast of weirdos, each with different guns and abilities, and form the deadliest dang posse this side of the last tactical overworld map you descision'd your way through. I like what I've played so far, although I think a lot is going to hinge on how much evolution the mid-game offers. As always, here’s a Steam demo, if you want to be all contrary and 'form your own opinions'. Pah.

Zenless Zone Zero, the hotly anticipated new game from the makers of Genshin Impact, launches globally on July 4, 2024, across PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. The game is not available on Nintendo Switch or Xbox Series X and S.

Given The Chinese Room’s track record, it’s no surprise that the studio’s new titles are always met with the sort of excitement that they are, which is something that’s certainly been true of the upcoming Still Wakes the Deep as well. The narrative-driven horror game has looked promising in the lead-up to its release, and less than a month away from launch, The Chinese Room and publisher Secret Mode have offered more details on the game- specifically, on the names that will adorn its voice cast.

Valve's next game has reportedly leaked and it's not Half Life 3. The publisher is likely working on an Overwatch-style hero shooter called Deadlock, leaked images and details about the title suggest. The game is said to be a competitive third-person 6v6 hero-based shooter and is currently undergoing playtesting. Deadlock was previously known as Neon Prime and had reportedly been in the works since 2018.

Valve’s output of actual games has slowed down massively over the course of the last decade or so, with Half-Life: Alyx and Counter-Strike 2 having been its only major, well-received release in the last several years. And while the company is obviously continuing to focus primarily on Steam and Steam Deck, it seems it does have another new flagship title in the works.

According to several credible reports, Valve is developing a new game called Deadlock. Leaked screenshots from the ongoing Closed Alpha playtest have even been shared on Twitter/X by content creator Gabe Follower.

Valve might be more known for its Steam Deck handheld and its video game retail platform Steam these days, but according to leaks, the company is working on its next game — a third-person, hero-based shooter known as Deadlock.
