It's been nearly a decade since Supermassive Games released Until Dawn as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. The British studio has since moved on to other franchises, chiefly their The Dark Pictures horror anthology. Before the release of Man of Medan, Supermassive CEO and Executive Producer Pete Samuels commented on the many requests for Until Dawn 2:
After Until Dawn, many started to request a sequel, and it still happens today, so we know there is a fanbase that likes this kind of thing. If we were making sequels, we don’t know who survived. I mean we could probably work it out from your game save, but we don’t want to make a sequel to that. We want to make a different story with different people.

Supermassive eventually released a spiritual successor to Until Dawn called The Quarry, but fans of that particular universe and characters have been out of luck when it comes to new game installments. However, they can now rejoice with the news that a feature film adaptation is in the works.
The scoop was broken by The Hollywood Reporter, who revealed that the project is being developed by Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions (Sony's division dedicated to adapting game IPs to the big and small screen). We also learned that David F. Sandberg is set to direct the Until Dawn film, with Gary Dauberman attached to re-write the script based on a previous work by Blair Butler. The two worked together on the horror movie Annabelle 2: Creation. Dauberman is also known for his work on It and The Nun, whereas Sandberg recently directed the two Shazam! movies.
There are not many details on the movie itself, though THR said it would be R-rated with an ensemble cast. The game already features a rather impressive cast: Academy Award winner Rami Malek, Peter Stormare, Hayden Panettiere, and Brett Dalton, among others.
Until Dawn is only the latest in a long series of projects handled by PlayStation Productions as Sony seeks to expand the reach of its game franchises. Uncharted and Gran Turismo already made it to the big screen, while The Last of Us and Twisted Metal were turned into TV series. Future film adaptations include Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, and Gravity Rush, while God of War and Horizon are landing on TV.
Earlier this week, another horror game, Martha Is Dead, was also revealed to be getting a film adaptation.

Until Dawn has had quite a few headlines recently. The video game has been around for several years, but newcomers continue to enjoy the horror cinematic experience. But new reports have been circulating online that the Supermassive Games horror title has been pulled from various regions on the PlayStation Store. However, it’s likely not a title actually being pulled but rather a glitch that has dropped the game from being made available.

Game developer People Can Fly has laid off around thirty developers from an unannounced Square Enix game codenamed Project Gemini. The news was broken yesterday by Kotaku, which obtained an email sent by Development Director Adam Alker to his fellow employees. Alker chalked the layoffs to budget limitations and a decision to shrink the game's scope.
