UFO Robot Grendizer is a classic sci-fi mecha anime that dates all the way back to the 1970s — and it's being revived as an action game in the very near future. UFO Robot Grendizer: The Feast of the Wolves lands on PS5 and PS4 on the 14th November, and going by its first proper gameplay trailer, it just looks like a damn fun time.
In the original show, the titular Grendizer is used to protect Earth from an alien invasion, and so the game's all about big robot battles. The official description provides an accurate overview: «Fight in epic battles through multiple gameplays: pilot the Spaizer, engage in vertical shoot-them-up in Kôji Kabuto’s TFO, and control Grendizer in third-person action combat. Use his iconic and devastating attacks to destroy the terrifying Saucer Beasts and save the Earth!»

Robert's been a dedicated PlayStation fan since the days of Tekken 2, and he still loves a good dust up. When he's not practising combos, he's usually getting lost in the latest 100-hour RPG, or, y'know, replaying The Witcher 3.
Looks like it could be fun. We need more giant mech games! Hopefully this one turns out well.
I like the look and vibe of the game. Not grim dark or depressing. But Microids are a weird studio so I think I'll take a wait and see approach.
@Powerplay94 Worth pointing out Microids is the publisher here, the developer is a relatively small French studio called Endroad.
Reminds me of Transformers Devastation. Damn, I miss that game a lot...
Love it. Takes me back. Grendizer, Danguard Ace, Starvengers etc.
This looks really good. I'm always up for some giant robot action and this looks like it could deliver. The different modes have me interested too!
I never knew the source material as a kid, but this main mech character and a few others were marketed as «shogun warriors» toys in the 70's in the US. They were 2 foot tall jointed plastic with various weapons that would not pass safety standards today. Like plastic missiles shooting out of the chest and one of the fists shot off as a ranged attack. This might have to be a nostalgia purchase for me!
@ShogunRok Aren't they the Syberia developers?
@Flaming_Kaiser Not sure… A couple of additional French studios worked under Microids for that game but unless they've changed their name since, it's not them.
@ShogunRok Thanks for the information.

A Diablo IV custom liquid cooled high-end PC with real human blood will be given away next month as part of a special event to encourage blood donations in the United States.
There’s just a week until Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases on PS5, and that means it’s time to start pre-loading the anticipated exclusive ahead of its launch. Insomniac Games has confirmed on Twitter that those who’ve pre-ordered the title digitally can begin pulling its data now, meaning that it’ll be ready to play on 20th October, which is the title’s release day. The file size weighs in at around 86GB.
Sony is using the opportunity of the PS5’s smaller, slimmer relaunch to stealthily bump the price of the Digital Edition in the United States. While we already know you’ll need to pay extra for a standalone vertical stand, the organisation has also made the decision to hike the overall cost of the non-Blu-ray unit by $50. This means, moving forwards, the disc-less device will increase from an MSRP of $399.99 to $449.99.
As we’re all gradually coming to terms with, physical media is on the way out. The video games market is slowly transitioning to digital sales, and the switch has occurred even more abruptly in other industries, where most people prefer to stream movies and music these days. Best Buy, one of the United States’ largest retailers, is allegedly planning to phase out all physical media next year.
The new PS5, colloquially known as the PS5 Slim, will replace the original model next month – and its main selling point is its detachable disc drive. For Sony, this design tweak will streamline its manufacturing process – but for consumers, it’ll also provide flexibility. The remodelled machine will also come in 30 per cent smaller than its predecessor, which is a significant footprint reduction.
Update: Well, there we go. Microsoft has wasted no time, and has officially concluded the transaction to acquire Activision Blizzard King. The announcement comes via Xbox Wire, where Phil Spencer writes about this historic merger. Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard King, will remain in place for at least the rest of 2023.
There’s a good chance if you were trying to play your PS5 last night, you may have been hit by some server issues. There was a widespread global outage during the middle of the night in the UK, which affected the peak evening window in the United States. All of the issues were resolved within a couple of hours or so, but obviously you wouldn’t have been able to play online-only titles, like the newly released Honkai: Star Rail.
Update: It's the second day of the Big Deal Days sale, which means new deals are live and ready to be snapped up. Check out the best PlayStation offerings below!
Sony has announced and revealed the long-rumoured new PS5 model. Launching in November 2023 in the United States with other countries to follow, this updated SKU has a smaller form factor and, as expected, a disc drive which can be bought and attached separately.
Empire of the Ants is certainly not a game we expected to be announced for the PS5, but now we’ve seen it in action, we’re intrigued. The Microids outing – officially due out in 2024 – promises to take you on an “extraordinary journey through the infinitesimally small” as you “guide your colony towards a brighter future”.
What are the best The Simpsons games? When The Simpsons first aired in late 1989, few could have anticipated its cultural impact. While its appeal may have waned slightly over the past 30 years, it remains the longest running American animated series, racking up over 700 episodes and counting. Created by Matt Groening and depicting the exploits of an average, everyday family, its cast of characters – including the titular Simpsons – have become household names.
