Dredge, the 2023 indie Lovecraftian fishing title from Black Salt Games that took the gaming world by storm, is set to become the next live-action Hollywood adaptation. The New Zealand-based game company is teaming up with production company Story Kitchen to bring the creepy game to life.

Publisher Team17 and developer Ambertail Games have announced Amber Isle, a dinosaur-themed shop management game coming to Switch and PC via Steam. A release date was not announced.

Dredge, the sinister fishing game from Black Salt Games and publisher Team 17, has teamed up with Mintrocket's Dave the Diver for a new crossover.

Two of the best games released this year, Dave the Diver and Dredge, involve fishing. It only makes sense then that they should collaborate. The cosmic horror of the latter manifests in the former, with aberrations, new characters and even some cult-like customers in the sushi bar. Check out the trailer below.

The first paid expansion for Black Salt Games’ Dredge is now available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. In The Pale Reach, available at any time in a playthrough, players can venture to a new biome with icebergs and freezing waters. Of course, various horrors lurk under the surface. Turn-based tactical folktale game Howl is now available for Switch and PC via Steam for $14.99, publisher astragon Entertainment and developer Mi’pu’mi Games announced. A demo is also available. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Epic Games Store versions will follow on January 23, 2024.

Trepang2 isn’t without its flaws, but it’s inarguable that there’s plenty to love in this chaotic first-person shooter as well. The fishing-meets-cosmic horror title garnered critical acclaim shortly after launch and has received significant updates. In a new interview with Game Developer at PAX Australia, producer Nadia Thorne and 3D artist Mikey Bastiaens confirmed it sold over one million copies.

2023 has sadly been a year that has seen consistent widespread layoffs in the games industry, and recent days and weeks have seen another flurry of those, with the likes of Creative Assembly, Epic Games, and others having been hit with layoffs. Another company has, unfortunately, now joined that list.

Black Salt Games’ Dredge, a fishing game with a healthy dose of cosmic horror, has seen a delay to its paid DLC. Titled The Iron Rig, it was set to release in Q4 2023 but has been delayed to 2024. In a new Steam Community post, the developer revealed that it would “need more lead time” to coordinate its marketing to ensure the launch is “as exciting” as possible.

Black Salt Games’ Dredge has received its third free update, adding the ability to customize one’s ship. A new Painter character is available in the starting area and allows players to paint their vessel, adjust the bunting and select a new flag. You can also explore the seas for new items.
