Game Rant can exclusively reveal Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Land of the Giants, a new comic series tie-in to Gearbox Software's Borderlands spin-off. The first issue of the Tiny Tina's Wonderlands-inspired comic book set is scheduled to hit the store shelves in summer 2024.
Released in March 2022, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands debuted to decent reviews and a fairly warm reception from the fandom, as underlined by the fact that it nowadays boasts over 12,000 «Very Positive» Steam user impressions. Much like the series that inspired it, the game is a looter shooter. Its story serves as a direct sequel to the 2013 Borderlands 2 expansion pack Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep.
The 2022 game is now set to receive its first comic book tie-in series this summer. Called Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Land of the Giants, the newly announced graphic novel collection stems from a collaboration between Embracer Group subsidiary Dark Horse Comics and Gearbox Entertainment, which Take-Two Interactive bought from Embracer in early April 2024. Game Rant can exclusively reveal the cover of the series' initial issue, as well as its first story details and availability info.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Land of the Giants is written by Marvel Comics veteran Paul Tobin, who penned a narrative that will see a number of new characters «commit heinous acts of awesomeness» on their quest to chase down a bounty on a giant called Hilly the Kid. Tiny Tina and multiple other established characters from the game will also be making an appearance in the comic book series, all illustrated by Italian artist and long-time Dark Horse Comics collaborator Luisa Russo. Deron Bennett, known for his work on Masters of the Universe: Revelation and the Overwatch: New Blood comic, will be handling the lettering.
The first issue of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Land of the Giants is scheduled to be released on August 14. Pre-orders are now open at local comic book stores, priced at $3.99. Two more volumes are planned to debut in the near future, though Dark Horse Comics has yet to treat them to concrete release dates. While the subsequent issues are likely to retail at the same price point, the publisher has yet to officially confirm their pricing and availability details.
Given the timing of this announcement, it is likely that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Land of the Giants was already in the works well before Embracer agreed to sell Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two Interactive in April 2024. The $460 million deal saw Take-Two label 2K Games secure the rights to the Borderlands franchise, among other Gearbox properties. And while Land of the Giants is still being handled by an Embracer subsidiary, it is unclear if prospective future comic book tie-ins to the series
