Amazon Games announced the first Western technical test for Throne and Liberty, the upcoming MMORPG developed by NCSoft.
The test will take place between September 19th at 2 PM Pacific Time and October 3rd at 7 PM Pacific Time, though it's reserved for United States players and guilds only. The selected participants will be notified via email by September 14th. Interestingly, it will be available across all platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X) and even support cross-play already, confirming the previously announced feature.
Amazon Games, which is publishing Throne and Liberty in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, said it would gather the community's feedback and relay it to NCSoft to ensure a 'great experience at launch'. From what's been stated in the announcement post, the whole breadth of activities available in the MMORPG should be included in the technical test, including fighting large scale bosses, engaging with field events, delving into massive dungeons, waging war in epic guild battles to obtain loot and secure territory, clashing in castle sieges and more. On the other hand, participants can expect to find only Korean voice-over and English and Korean text at this stage.
It should be noted that the technical test will be under NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement), so any selected testers won't be able to share, record, and/or broadcast any of the game.
NCSoft recently announced a delay into 2024 for the Western release as it attempts to make the game's combat more dynamic, following criticism directed at its excessively static nature. More changes may be made specifically for the Western version of Throne and Liberty, such as removing Pay-to-Win (P2W) items; similarly, the autoplay feature that made the game feel like a mobile title has also already been removed in the upcoming technical test. Whether that'll be enough to make Throne and Liberty a compelling MMORPG remains to be seen, however.
