Fans of the Drow race unite - this Baldur's Gate 3 Drow mod makes the Dark Elf race even more powerful in Larian's latest Baldur's Gate entry.
Fans of the popular Forgotten Realms novels will, without a doubt, know about the evil Drow race that resides in the underground city-state Menzoberranzan. The City of Spiders, as it is also known, was once the home of the most famous character in the Forgotten Realms lore - Drizzt Do'Urden. Although this mod doesn't add the male drow Ranger to the game (heck, Drow aren't included as an elven subrace in the game), this mod from modder 'Mharius' makes playing a dark-skinned elf more immersive through adding proficiencies to both Insight and Intimidation as well as adding a Lucky Passive feature.
In addition to the above, the latest version of this mod also adds 'Savage Attack' and 'Relentless Endurance' to your character. Players can also download additional standalone packs for this mod that include Drow scimitar, longbow, and long sword proficiency (did anyone mention Drizzt already?). It's a really interesting mod that will surely be interested in fans of R.A. Salvatore's Forgotten Realms novels, more specifically those interested in the the Drow.
"What's more powerful than a Drow you wonder?", t he creator of the mod writes . "A Drow unleashed! For the Way of the Drow is a pathway to many abilities some rightfully consider unnatural. Yet here you can freely indulge in true power incarnate and choose your own destiny!Unleashed, a Drow can master any aspect of existence if only they so choose, even fate itself!"
The 'Drow Unleashed' mod can be downloaded via Nexusmods here. There, players can also download the standalone drow packs.
Baldur's Gate 3 is available now for PC. The game releases next month for PlayStation 5 with the Xbox Series version being released later this year. Last week, the game received its first major patch after numerous hotfixes. Here's what we wrote in our launch review last month:
"It's been 22 years since Baldur's Gate 2, and to this day, we still haven't received a similarly engaging D&D computer role-playing game, despite plenty of other titles being great games on their own, such as the Divinity series by Larian Studios", our very own Francesco de Meo wrote. "The latest entry in the series cemented the Belgian studio's reputation as one of the top RPG studios, giving them the chance to work with Wizards of the Coast to develop the highly anticipated Baldur's Gate 3. After a long time in Early Access, the third entry in the series is finally out, but does it live up to the hype or even top its predecessors? The answer is a resounding yes."

Valve is currently celebrating Steam's 20th anniversary in the only way Valve knows how: massive discounts on all of its games, and bad jokes. The studio posted a neat timeline crammed with trivia about the platform, which begins with it getting in a quarrel with itself about what the first third party game released on Steam was (Codename: Gordon, apparently, though as it's now de-listed Rag Doll Kung Fu also gets a shout-out), and ends with the tiniest tidbit of news about Valve's biggest release of the year.
Yesterday (Tuesday, September 12), it was announced that the game engine Unity will soon begin charging developers a monthly fee based on the number of installs their games have, in a move that has left many indie studios upset and frustrated.
Speaking to the Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel, Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke admitted that the developers feared some low scores for Baldur's Gate 3 due to potential bugs encountered by reviewers. This explains why review codes were only sent a handful of days before the PC launch.
Here he is, then – Jean-Claude Van Damme as Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat 1. Despite the Belgian actor famously playing Guile in the live action Street Fighter movie, Cage has always been inspired by the Hollywood star, and he’ll finally feature as the character in the reboot’s Premium Edition, which includes access to the first Kombat Pack.
Larian Studios basically had to be the DM for Baldur's Gate 3's take on Dungeons & Dragons, which means that the developer had to account for all the chaos that normally ensues at the tabletop.

If any video game truly deserves the mildly ludicrous 'AAAA' moniker, it's Baldur's Gate 3. Larian Studios' latest is a roleplaying experience of the first order, a work of vanishing beauty made in the old ways to modern specifications. This third instalment in the long-dormant series effortlessly makes spiritual progenitors Mass Effect and Dragon Age look like tentative first steps on a grander adventure; Larian's own immaculate Divinity: Original Sin 2, a first draft in comparison.
