In news that isn't likely to be much of a surprise to anyone at this point, a newly unearthed Microsoft court document has confirmed The Elder Scrolls 6 won't be making its way to PlayStation when it eventually shows up in 2026 or beyond.

"[The Elder Scrolls 6] is in development," Bethesda Softworks vice president Pete Hines said when asked about whether the long-awaited sequel was still in the concept phase. "But it's in early development."
In June 2021, Todd Howard revealed that, despite the CGI teaser from 2018 - which is now five years old - the game was actually in its "design phase". So, it's a long way off. Bethesda has been busy with Starfield, its gargantuan space-faring RPG, so TES 6 and Fallout 5 have not been the focus. But with Starfield finally releasing next week, that's soon going to change.

"Yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6," Hines said in an interview with Vandal (via PCGamesN). "But [Starfield] is what the studio has focused on. We have put all of our studios focused on making this game the best it can be."
Given that it was still in the concept and design phase three years after the teaser dropped, and since it has only just started development, it's unclear how much stock we can put in that teaser or any of the clues given. Anything could have changed in that five-year window, just look at how different Cyberpunk 2077 ended up being from its reveal trailer in 2013.
Based on the slim evidence we have, The Elder Scrolls 6 appears to be set in Hammerfell, home of the Redguards. The teaser's shot of a mountain range points to it being somewhere in the High Rock region (Hammerfell's neighbour), possibly spanning two continents. That being said, there are mountains all across Tamriel and it could simply be that this teaser was designed to be purposefully vague given how far out development proved to be.
However, in Starfield itself, fans noticed a scratching on the ship's console reminiscent of the Iliac Bay, the water between Hammerfell and High Rock. Bethesda also dropped a map of Skyrim in 2020 with three candles placed on top, asking fans to "transcribe the past and map the future". Fans took this to mean it was a puzzle about TES 6's setting. The candles mark Solitude, Yngvild, and Elinhir, a town in Hammerfell.
We're still likely a long way from hearing any official details about The Elder Scrolls 6, especially as Howard has expressed regret for sharing a teaser so early. The game has only recently entered the "early development" stages, so don't expect it to launch anytime soon. We still have Starfield and its DLC to come. But at the very least, we know that TES 6 has finally left its concept phase.

In news that isn't likely to be much of a surprise to anyone at this point, a newly unearthed Microsoft court document has confirmed The Elder Scrolls 6 won't be making its way to PlayStation when it eventually shows up in 2026 or beyond.
Messaging from Microsoft regarding whether or not The Elder Scrolls 6 will be skipping a PlayStation release (whenever it launches, that is) has been mixed at best, though given the fact that two major Bethesda releases in Redfall and Starfield have launches as Xbox console exclusives, many have assumed that the fantasy RPG will follow suit. More evidence has now emerged to support that notion.
Despite previous reports revealing the game's 2026 release window, The Elder Scrolls VI is at least five years away and is likely to release, unsurprisingly, only on PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Xbox’s head of gaming says The Elder Scrolls 6’s exclusivity still hasn’t been decided.
With Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios has released its first ever title as a first party Xbox developer, and though the studio is, of course, going to continue focusing on the sci-fi RPG for a while, there’s already no shortage of excitement around what will come next either. The Elder Scrolls 6 will be BGS’ next big project, and though it’s still a ways off from launch (to say the least), questions about whether it, too, will be an Xbox console exclusive continue to be asked by the masses.
Update 39 for the base game has arrived on all platforms for The Elder Scrolls Online. T he new patch offers a number of quality of life improvements, new PvP options, and overhauls to quests and content.
The Elder Scrolls Online allows players to explore the world of Tamriel however they choose. I started with the Aldmeri Dominion faction as a Nightblade in this playthrough. This short exploration of Coldharbour will give an idea of what challenges players will encounter in Molag Bal’s Daedric realm.
Given the current hype surrounding Starfield, you’re never too far away from a discussion of all things related to Bethesda, including The Elder Scrolls 6. We all know that it’s likely years until the Skyrim follow-up sees the light of day, but at what stage of development is it currently at?
The Elder Scrolls VI is now in early development, Bethesda has confirmed. Speaking to Spanish publication Vandal, Bethesda's Head of Publishing Pete Hines confirmed that while the hype for Starfield draws ever so close, some developers at the studio have been working on the Tamriel fantasy sequel, which has now left the pre-production stage. Both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 were revealed at the 2018 E3 event, with the former sci-fi RPG being way ahead in the release pipeline. For now, Bethesda is fully focused on its launch and potential post-launch support, and therefore, it'll be at least a few years before we hear any new details about TES 6.
The Elder Scrolls Online team has set a date for a special stream to detail the upcoming Endless Archive dungeon, along with more that’s coming in Update 40.
