Swery 65 and Suda 51 announce ‘2.5D slasher film parodic action’ game Hotel Barcelona for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC

Publisher Forthright Entertainment and developer Soma Games have announced The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). It will launch on December 1.

SPYxANYA: Operation Memories will launch for Switch on December 21, 2023 in Japan, followed by PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in 2024, publisher Bandai Namco and developer Groove Box Japan announced. Two legendary game designers, Swery65 (Deadly Premonition) and Suda51 (No More Heroes), are collaborating on a new game, titled Hotel Barcelona. We've just been treated to our first look at what the game looks like, and it's a side-scrolling action game with a tongue-in-cheek vibe and, of course, plenty of bloodshed.

The newly-announced side-scrolling Soulslite is the newest game from both Hidetaka «SWERY» Suehiro and Goichi «Suda51» Suda, two developers who specialize in delightfully devilish, off-kilter games that wear their inspirations on their sleeves. SWERY's and its sequel comprise a duology of pastiche, featuring small-town murder mysteries, eccentric detectives, and old ladies with fortunetelling pots. Suda's series stars the gamer-turned-assassin Travis Touchdown, who's been known to debate the merits of with his targets before finishing them off.

Rocket Panda Games has announced Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Ultimate, a remastered version of the side-scrolling beat ’em up game rebuilt from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. It will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in 2024 worldwide.

Back in 2019, iconoclastic Japanese indie creators Goichi “Suda51” Suda (No More Heroes, Killer 7, Let it Die) and Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro (Deadly Premonition, The Good Life) announced they would be teaming up on a horror-flavored game named Hotel Barcelona. In the years since we’ve heard very little about this team up, but when pressed, Suda and Swery have continued to insist it was happening. Well, during this year’s Tokyo Game Show Hotel Barcelona was finally revealed, and it looks every bit as strange as you’d expect.

White Owls Inc. has shown off a new trailer for the long-anticipated Hotel Barcelona, a collaboration between Deadly Premonition’s Swery65 and No More Heroes’ Suda51. It’s, um, not looking so hot.

Swery-led studio White Owls Inc. and Suda51 of Grasshopper Manufacture, the studio behind the No More Heroes Series, have teamed up to develop Hotel Barcelona. Revealed during Xbox's 2023 Tokyo Game Show broadcast, the team describes Hotel Barcelona as a «2.5D slasher film parodic action» game, and it's out next year.
