Minigames are some of the most enjoyable parts of . Sure, the main campaign is fun enough; the delightful enemy designs, fast-paced combat, and evocative music keep it perfectly interesting. But sometimes, players need a break, especially when it's time to decompress after beating one of 's hardest bosses. That's where the minigames come in. Each one is original, accessible, and enjoyable, but some definitely stand out from the pack.

There is a level cap in , even if many players will never reach it. As they progress through the story and face off against a variety of monsters in battle, all characters in the party gain experience points. They level up at the same rate, but since they start at different levels, it's nearly impossible to level everyone evenly. The only sure way to do so is by bringing them all up to the maximum.

Full disclosure right out of the gate: Super Mario RPG is a game near and dear to my heart. It's a game I go back to once a year, and I know this weird and wonderful take on the Mario universe like the back of my hand. Super Mario RPG is a pretty standard turn-based JRPG at its heart, and it comes with all the typical trappings of the genre. Famitsu has released its latest charts for hardware sales and physical software sales in Japan, and where the latter is concerned, there are several new releases in the top 10 for the week. Super Mario RPG enjoyed the second-biggest ever launch for a Mario RPG, selling over 301,000 physical units upon release. The original title, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, remains the best launch for a Mario RPG to date though, having sold over 335,000 units upon its SNES launch in 1996 (via Install Base).

Grate Guy's Casino has returned in , but unfortunately, it is just as tedious to access as it was in the original game. However, some changes to the casino in this revamped version of the game should make players happy once they find it.

has some tough bosses. Despite being a relatively easy game overall, it can sometimes surprise players with formidable foes who come out of nowhere. Somewhere between their cutesy character designs and gimmicky mechanics, it's easy to underestimate them, only to be left mouth agape when the entire party is defeated. As a rule, the party should always be prepared with recovery items, the finest equipment available, the best playable characters in , and consistent attack timing to defeat these difficult bosses.
