Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is Getting a Closed Alpha Tech Test Later This Month

Rocksteady Studios has confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which has been known to be a live-service multiplayer shooter for some time, will receive an offline story mode sometime next year after its February launch.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is starting to look like maybe it might be better than it first appeared, but one big knock against it for me and an awful lot of others out there is its connectivity requirement: You have to be online to play, even if you want to play by yourself. If there's one thing we've learned from games like Payday 3, that can be a real headache when the servers can't keep up, or worse, go offline for good. And there's the simple principle of the thing too, which is what really chaps me. Why should I have to be online to play by myself?

Developer Rocksteady Studios recently confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will eventually get an offline mode. However, it also specified that the Suicide Squad game’s offline option will not be part of the game at launch.

If you were put off by the idea that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an always-online game, I have some good news: Rocksteady Studios confirmed that it will make the story mode available offline, but only after the game releases.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has shown some signs of promise with its recent gameplay showing, but by and large, the game has been met with its fair share of skepticism, something that its always-online requirements have contributed to heavily. As it turns out though, those who want to play the game offline will have that option- albeit with a post-launch update.

As sad as it sounds, Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is a regular at The Game Awards. Why? Because it was supposed to have been out by now in many ways, and yet, it keeps getting delayed, so new insights and trailers keep showing up at Geoff Keighley’s show. Sure enough, tonight, we got a new trailer that reinforced the game’s story and why the squad was summoned to kill the Justice League. The good news is that the title got its “presumed” final release date outside of the new trailer, and it’s a lot closer than you might think.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been in development for a long time; by the time it comes out next year, it will have been nine years since Rocksteady's last game. But after years of secret development and repeated delays, it's finally around the corner, and The Game Awards just gave us our latest look. See for yourself in the trailer below:

Will the Suicide Squad ever win over the hearts of the masses? The DC comic book team jumped to the big screen in 2016 with David Ayer’s lambasted Suicide Squad, which made for a better trailer than movie. Birds of Prey tried to give Margot Robbie her own moment, but that bombed. James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy touch was supposed to redeem the villains with 2021’s The Suicide Squad, but the half-reboot, dropped in theaters and HBO Max on the same date, didn’t exactly pop. Max’s Peacemaker and Harley Quinn animated series have found success in a sitcom-ier mode, but it’s hard to call either a true Suicide Squad vehicle. Pray for Rocksteady Studios’ Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which looks like fun… despite a number of delays.
