As sad as it sounds, Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is a regular at The Game Awards. Why? Because it was supposed to have been out by now in many ways, and yet, it keeps getting delayed, so new insights and trailers keep showing up at Geoff Keighley’s show. Sure enough, tonight, we got a new trailer that reinforced the game’s story and why the squad was summoned to kill the Justice League. The good news is that the title got its “presumed” final release date outside of the new trailer, and it’s a lot closer than you might think.
In the trailer, we hear Amanda Waller talking to Wonder Woman about how the rest of the Justice League have been brainwashed and controlled by Brainiac. They’re killing people and taking over Metropolis, and that needs to stop. After getting The Flash under the lasso of truth and having him admit that the only way to stop this is to kill them, the Suicide Squad is up and ready to have some fun, bad guy style.
From there, we see a mix of cutscenes and gameplay footage that highlight what the game will be about. One of the big things is that traversal is a key part of combat. These characters aren’t fighting up close like Batman; they’ll swoop in and deal damage from afar, given the “godly enemies” they’ll be facing.
The trailer clarifies that all the Justice League are “cranked up” in their personalities and combat styles, including Batman wielding a gun, which he would never do normally. So, the Suicide Squad will have a tough job ahead of them with putting the league down and saving the day.
The catch with this title is that despite being developed by Rocksteady, we’re not sure whether the game will be good. One of the reasons for the delays is the backlash that keeps happening when they show more of the title. For example, while everyone was excited at first when they announced it was an “always online” title, people were mad. Then, they revealed that the gameplay diverged heavily from the style that the Arkham-themed games had, and that threw people for a loop.
And now, people are concerned about the gameplay even more because the characters will use weapons they never did before, like Captain Boomerang using guns. So, how this game will play out remains to be seen.
Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League will, hopefully, arrive on February 2nd.

DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has confirmed the release date window for Max’s upcoming animated series.
On February 2 – Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang will be unleashed into the streets of Metropolis, with the impossible task of defeating the world’s greatest superheroes in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
A major character death in may have just been revealed via leaks. As its title would suggest, Rocksteady's upcoming shooter will have players assuming control of Amanda Waller's Task Force X — consisting of Deadshot, Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang — as they are sent on a mission to kill the DC universe's top superhero team, the Justice League, who have fallen victim to Brainiac's mind-control.
There are many things you can point to in the present and past of the gaming world and see how far things have come and how certain “practices” have changed over time. For example, in the past, the idea of doing “special editions” or “collectibles” that you would get alongside a game’s purchase was very few and far between, if done at all. But fast forward to now, and they’re all over the place! Plus, sometimes the exclusives are just simple cosmetics versus true “meaningful content,” like with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League and its PlayStation-exclusive stuff.
Some leaks have revealed more of the playable characters coming to Rocksteady Games' shooter post-launch, and one particular character could finally pay off a moment from WB Games Montréal's 2013 prequel,. is confirmed to be taking place five years after the events of the last title, and follows Amanda Waller's team of supervillains and antiheroes, Task Force X, as they infiltrate Metropolis in the wake of an alien invasion led by Braniac.
Swen Vincke, Baldur’s Gate 3 director and CEO of Larian Studios, recently offered his condolences to the massive group of Wizards of the Coast workers affected by Hasbro’s latest round of layoffs, drawing specific attention to the fact that nearly everyone at the company who was part of early discussions about the Dungeons & Dragons-based game is now gone.
Game developers have a problem with this year’s Game Awards.
A year or two ago I interviewed an actual, practising witch, the wonderful Damien Crawford of Purgatory Dungeoneer fame, about how videogames represent magic. I badly need Crawford's thoughts on Emberstorm Entertainment's Reka, published by Fireshine Games, which has just been slapped with a Steam early access release window of Q2 2024.
Last night, Geoff Keighley revealed dozens of trailers for upcoming video games, and interviewed some of his favourite celebrites and best palss from the games industry on stage. He also happened to hand out some awards to game developers. At his awards show. Titled The Game Awards.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been the subject of plenty of complaints and controversy over its live-service focus, and while recent PR hasn’t really focused on this aspect of the game, it doesn’t mean any of that stuff has actually gone anywhere. Case in point, early on it was revealed that Suicide Squad will be an always-online game, and it seems that probably hasn’t changed… at least at launch.
Hideo Kojima and Gonzo from The Muppets had just as much time on-stage at The Game Awards as the award winners themselves, who were hurried off-stage with a teleprompter reading "please wrap it up".
Baldur's Gate III took home the top honour at The Game Awards 2023, held early Friday in Los Angeles, besting its lead competitor Alan Wake II. The Dungeons & Dragons-based sprawling RPG, which was strongly revered by both fans and critics alike, bagged six trophies, including Best Community Support and Best Performance. The latter was collected by Neil Newbon, who played Astarion, the silver-haired vampire spawn, holding our attention with his melodramatic persona and the occasional high-pitched screeches. Meanwhile, Remedy's Alan Wake 2 won four awards across some of the most important categories, with co-directors Sam Lake and Kyle Rowley emerging as the best game directors of the year, alongside a writing/ narrative nod.
