Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is bringing back the Joker, having just revealed the first gameplay footage starring yet another version of the iconic character. This reveal arrives only a week after Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League teased the return of DC's biggest villain.
Warning! Batman: Arkham series spoilers ahead.Unlike Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham games, Kill the Justice League was designed as a live service third-person shooter, yet one that is still set in the same universe. Due to that state of affairs, having it feature the Clown Prince of Crime is a bit tricky, not least because this series' version of the Joker has been dead since Batman: Arkham Asylum.
Rocksteady still found a way to circumvent that inconvenience, with the latest episode of the studio's Kill the Justice League dev diary confirming as much. Specifically, the upcoming Suicide Squad game will introduce an alternate version of the Joker as a DLC character once its inaugural season launches in March. Much like the rest of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's post-launch characters, the Joker will be free to unlock through regular play.
The January 22 dev diary saw Rocksteady's studio director, Darius Sadeghian, explain that the Joker featured in the upcoming game originates from one of the alternate universes—Elseworlds, in the game's jargon—that Brainiac creates over the course of the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League story campaign. Unlocking him will seemingly require reaching the shooter's endgame loop.
This version of the Harlequin of Hate is somewhat younger than the one that died five years before the events of the upcoming game. Rocksteady says it opted to return the character to his roots, so to speak, by designing a version of the Joker that is somewhat more agreeable than the Batman: Arkham one, as underlined by the fact he actually had his own Suicide Squad in his home universe. Players can hence expect a character that isn't quite a supervillain, while still being completely unhinged in his own way.
The Joker's traversal abilities in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be based around a rocket-powered umbrella. The newly shared gameplay footage shows a plain black version of that accessory, although there's no doubt that players will be able to customize the umbrella to their heart's content. On that note, the new developer diary saw Sadeghian reiterate that Kill the Justice League will be «one of the most generous, player-friendly post-launch experiences available,» noting that the shooter will be free of battle passes and paywalls, while its in-game shop will be solely dedicated to cosmetics. Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game launches February 2 for PC on and consoles.

The next-gen Xbox console may not be designed by the team behind the Series X, with one industry insider claiming that the project has been reassigned to Microsoft's Surface division. The purported move implies that the next Xbox console could be released much later than the PS6, depending on how close to the drawing board the project returned as a result of the design team switch.
Rocksteady Studios has detailed the contents of the next Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League update, revealing that the upcoming patch will deal with the fact that some players have completely broken the game by abusing a Burn-related bug, in addition to introducing a number of other changes. Despite confirming the plan to nerf Burn builds, the company did so while praising the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League fandom for breaking the game so soon after its release.
The original version of the Starfield fuel system could make a return if Bethesda were ever to add a survival mode to its hit game. While this possibility is by no means new information, its confirmation was seemingly lost in all the Starfield chatter over the past several years.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is now out. Kinda. Those who pre-ordered the $100 deluxe edition can now play the game, while everyone else has to wait until Feb 2. Then again, given that bugs and glitches saw the game unceremoniously yanked offline hours after its launch and the servers only seem to be sporadically up, few people have been able to put serious time into it.
Rocksteady and Warner's much-disparaged live service superhero snuff fantasy Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League goes into Deluxe-preorder-only early access today, Monday 29th January, at 9pm, or if you're from the UK or US east coast, Tuesday 30th January at 12am ET and 12 GMT. Non-Deluxe peons get to play it from Friday 2nd February. With just a handful of hours till the initial release we still don't have review code, which is generally a good sign that a publisher thinks the game in question is going to get a mild-to-severe kicking.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has caught a lot of flak for being a live service game already, but developer Rocksteady Studios has nonetheless made plenty of promises about consistent post-launch support over the months following the game’s release. Of course, like any live service game, each season of content will also bring a new battle pass for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and in a recent Q&A over on the game’s official Discord channel (via MP1st), studio director Darius Sadeghian recently revealed new details on what to expect from the game on that front.
