Star Wars Outlaws' place in the wider universe means it doesn't have multiple endings

Players have been making the most of Starfield's ship creator to build homages to spaceships from Star Wars, Mass Effect, Firefly, and more.

When Bethesda Game Studios showed off a mech-like spaceship on the Starfield Direct and announced it had been made with the in-game builder, the imagination of countless fans immediately raced to the possibility of remaking countless spaceships seen in movies, TV, and other games.

Starfield fans are wasting no time bringing some of the sci-fi genre’s oldest and most beloved ships to Bethesda’s new space RPG. 

Simon Kinberg grew up in what he calls the “golden age of science fiction,” when Star Wars, Terminator, Alien, and Blade Runner weren’t cross-media IP, but banger movies you got to watch on big screens. Ahsoka has brought plenty of Star Wars characters from animation to live-action already, and the latest episode has continued the trend. 

The classic PS1 first-person shooter Star Wars: Dark Forces is being resurrected on the PS5 and PS4 – almost 30 years after it first released. The game – which originally launched on MS-DOS – is being remastered by Nightdive Studios, which is using its proprietary KEX Engine to rebuild the original in 4K resolution at up to 120 frames-per-second.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Star Wars? It’s pretty cool. That’s true for a lot of people, because whether or not you’re into the franchise’s current direction, it’s been around for so goddamn long that there is almost certainly an era, a comic, and/or a series of books or video games that speaks to your individual taste in genre fiction. It is simply hard to object to laser swords, space wizards, and starfighters on principle. It’s when you get specific that arguments can happen. Today, my specific argument (and I reserve the right to have a different one tomorrow) is that Star Wars’ Old Republic era kicks ass, and I’m a little bummed it’s mostly been abandoned.

From its expansive space setting to its sheer amount of build choices, Starfield looks like it’s going to be downright massive. Star Wars’ nineties first-person shooter Dark Forces is returning in a 4K-ified remaster from Nightdive Studios, the folks behind the recent System Shock remake. The upcoming Dark Forces Remaster will see its visuals bumped up to a crisp 4K, running at 120 frames per second, along with a number of quality-of-life improvements.

The Star Wars franchise has a long and venerable history when it comes to video games, and soon, one of the earliest and most beloved games based on George Lucas’ sci-fi universe will be reintroduced to modern audiences for the first time in high definition.

Nightdive Studios, the team behind the recently remastered classics System Shock and Quake 2, is at it again. Earlier today, the studio revealed its Star Wars Dark Forces Remaster, and needless to say there are a few excited members on the Eurogamer team.
