Star Wars Battlefront fans suspect that the version of Battlefront 2 in the Classic Collection is using a popular fan-made mod for Asajj Ventress from iamashaymin.
The announcement of a re-release of the first two Star Wars Battlefront games was a big hit with fans, who have been asking for ports of the beloved titles for quite some time now. Many of them, like myself, have been pouring over the reveal trailer since it was released last week to try and see everything they can about the new versions, and it seems that they've managed to spot something rather interesting.
As reported by IGN and first pointed out by Redditor TMT-MrExcitement, the footage used of Asajj Ventress in the Star Wars Classic Collection trailer shows her wielding her lightsaber in both hands, which isn't how it was handled when she was added as DLC for the Xbox version of the game. Originally, Ventress held both her linksabers, which were connected by a chord, in one hand, which made her very unique from the rest of the cast.
This isn't the case in the Classic Collection version of Battlefront 2, however, as Ventress is shown holding her lightsabers separately and with the same animations that Aayla Secura uses. This strange oversight caused TMT-MrExcitement to suggest that Aspyr is using a fan-made mod from iamashaymin for the PC version of the game that added Ventress to the game by reskinning Secura.
The original creator of the mod, iamashaymin, was sent the trailer by friends and immediately noticed that Ventress was using the same pose as Secura that comes from his mod. This isn't something that is mentioned or credited in the trailer, and seems to be something that Aspyr has done without asking the creator or informing players that it's not the original version of the character. Ventress' lightsaber model has also been pointed out as being very similar to the mod that iamashaymin created in 2021.
“Upon watching the trailer for the first time, a detail I noticed pretty quickly is whenever Asajj Ventress appeared she was holding two lightsabers in either hand exactly like Aayla Secura.”
When interviewed about the situation by IGN, iamashaymin noted that the version of the mod that Aspyr is seemingly using for the Classic Collection is actually outdated, as he actually reworked the mod earlier this month to replace Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress with versions that are closer to the DLC that Pandemic created for Battlefront 2.
