Cloud Imperium Games just dropped its fourth major update to Star Citizen in 2023 with the release of Alpha 3.22: Wrecks to Riches. Chris Roberts’ spacefaring MMO.
The update is intended in part to fulfill CIG’s commitments made at CitizenCon 2953 to integrate technology and content from Squadron 42, the project’s singleplayer module, into Star Citizen proper. The first addition coming over from Squadron 42 is the inclusion of 20 new hairstyles, allowing players to create more diverse looks for their digital selves within the game.
The update introduces also structural salvage support, allowing players to explore and salvage derelict settlements. Additionally, three new vehicles have been added, such as the Aopoa San’tok.yai fighter and Drake’s Cutter Rambler.
Star Citizen’s popular PvP location, Junktown, has been expanded with Echo Isle, a fourth location and one designed specifically for battle royale style gameplay. There’s also Raven’s Roost, designed for light ground vehicles and Paradise Cove, which should offer shelter from aerial threats.
Arena Commander has seen some additions in 3.22, as well. Two new maps, Bloodshot Ridge and Maker’s Point have been added. A number of new modes, including Team Elimination, 2v2 Duo Showdown, and Single Weapon Elimination mode have also been added.

Developer Cloud Imperium Games has released a new ship pack for Star Citizen. As spotted by TweakTown, the ship pack, dubbed Legatus 2953, is one of the most expensive packs available to purchase in the game, and is priced at $48,000.
Star Citizen is notorious in the industry for being a game that just will not launch. It was originally intended to launch in 2014, but has been pushed back again and again with no release date in sight. The game's fans are still somehow on board though, having raised well over half a billion dollars through crowdfunding, with even more cash flowing into the developer's coffers thanks to some extremely pricey DLC options.
Ever since it first warped onto the scene, Star Citizen has been infamous for its rapacious monetisation. The game's development seems never-ending but, long before you could play it in any form, Roberts Space Industries would sell you all sorts of space-things: Like this mine-laying ship that cost over $600 before mine-laying was even a feature in the game.

Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft's expansive open-world game set in the galaxy far, far away, was briefly known to be eyeing a ‘late 2024' release window, as per a recent Disney Parks blog. That has since been corrected to reflect a general timespan this year, with the publisher confirming to Kotaku that the timing was incorrectly displayed. First revealed during an Xbox Showcase last year, the title is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi movies, and introduces Kay Vess, a space scoundrel with a bounty on her head after botching up a job. Joining her on the crusade is the adorable axolotl-like alien Nix, performing certain actions at your command — akin to the BD-1 droid from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Update: Earlier today, a Disney Parks blog pointed to Star Wars Outlaws releasing in late 2024, but the term «late» has now been removed from the post so that is now reads just 2024. Ubisoft also confirmed to Kotaku that, «the timing was incorrect and has since been amended.» So, Star Wars Outlaws' release window has moved from late 2024 back to some general time this year.
For a brief period of time earlier today, it looked very much like Ubisoft's open-world heist game Star Wars Outlaws would be out sometime near the end of 2024. The word came by way of a Disney Parks blog post, and while it's not quite a specific date, it's definitely more precise than what we previously knew—that it's expected out sometime in 2024.
Star Citizen’s latest in-game ship package, Legatus, will cost as much as buying a brand-new car in 2023. Though the game is known to have overtly expensive ship packs and content bundles, this latest bundle takes the cake in terms of price tag.

Fair warning: there's not much time to go before the gift-giving starts in earnest. All's not lost, however, as online stores are still mighty fast at shipping stuff to satisfy the (rapidly closing) window of opportunity you have left. Collected below are some wonderful relationship-saving options. Or just some additional stocking-filler gifts for those of you who are way more proactive and organised than me.
