Sony has announced October 2023’s PlayStation Plus Essential games.
Confirming a recent leak, next month’s PlayStation Plus titles will include The Callisto Protocol (PS5, PS4) and Farming Simulator 22 (PS5, PS4).
They’ll be joined by action RPG and immersive sim Weird West (PS5, PS4), the debut title from WolfEye Studios, which was formed in 2019 by the creative director and executive producer of Dishonored.
PlayStation Plus members will be able to claim the games from October 3 until November 6.
Essential is the entry-level PlayStation Plus membership tier, which offers subscribers access to a few ‘free’ games every month.
September’s PlayStation Plus Essential titles are Saints Row (PS5, PS4), Black Desert – Traveler Edition (PS4) and Generation Zero (PS4). They’re available for PlayStation Plus members to claim until October 2.
The service’s more expensive Extra and Premium tiers, which were introduced last summer, offer subscribers access to the Game Catalogue, a library of up to 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games, as well as Ubisoft+ Classics, a curated selection of titles from the Assassin’s Creed publisher.
Features reserved for Premium subscribers include game trials, cloud streaming, and access to the Classics Catalogue, which includes hundreds of games from the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PSP.
Sony increased PlayStation Plus subscription prices by up to 35% earlier this month.
The move saw the cost of 12-month subscription plans for the service’s Essential, Extra and Premium tiers rise by $20-$40 / £10-£20 / €12-€32 depending on the chosen membership plan.
“This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service,” said Adam Michel, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s director of content acquisition and operations.
For existing 12-month members, the price increases won’t take effect until after their next renewal date that takes place on or after November 6, unless they make subscription changes like upgrades or downgrades in the meantime.

PlayStation Plus Premium members will finally be able to take advantage of PlayStation 5 cloud streaming when the feature becomes widely available later this month.
Starting today, we’re taking a step forward in cloud gaming by rolling out our PS5 cloud streaming feature for PlayStation Plus Premium members. This includes supported PS5-native games available through the PlayStation Plus Games Catalog* and Game Trials, as well as supported digital PS5 titles you own.
The tiered PlayStation Plus service still struggles to establish itself as a credible Xbox Game Pass alternative, and the recent effort to add value with video content for PS Plus Premium subscribers has somehow made the service worse for many. In late 2021, Sony launched the Bravia Core streaming service, a niche product offered only with Sony’s Bravia TVs. Though it promised superior fidelity in movie playback, the service did not offer a fully stocked streaming library akin to Netflix or a vast storefront like Amazon’s Prime Video. Now rebranded Sony Pictures Core, PS Plus Premium subscribers have been promised a library of free films, but the app is riddled with bugs.
PlayStation Plus' October 2023 offerings for its Extra and Premium tiers are exactly what one would expect around the Halloween season. Several horror titles such as,,, and 's third entry, are advertised as the subscription's major draws for the month alongside the DC superhero title, but there is another title that's been added that shouldn't be overlooked:
Sony is set to launch the PS5 cloud streaming service for PlayStation Plus Premium members before the end of October.
Sony has announced that PS5 cloud streaming will be launching for all PS Plus Premium subscribers later this month, giving remote access to full fat PlayStation 5 games from the PS Plus Game Catalog, support for Game Trials, as well as a selection of games that are owned by members.
Gotham Knights leads the pack of new titles coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium game catalog, this month. Starting October 17, all higher-tier PS Plus members can hop onto their Batcycles and ride around the streets of Gotham City, beating up all kinds of volatile criminals in the hopes of unmasking the enigmatic Court of Owls. Players can switch between Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and the Red Hood throughout the story to investigate Batman/ Bruce Wayne's death, and build out their character via a gear system. Gotham Knights wasn't nicely received at launch due to a myriad of performance issues across console and PC, in addition to having a repetitive gameplay loop. It will be available on the PS5 only.
