It’s been close to a couple of years since Skydance New Media – led by Uncharted creator Amy Hennig – announced that it was working on a AAA narrative-driven action-adventure Marvel game that would see Captain America and Black Panther teaming up together. Details on the game have been scant since then, to the extent that we don’t even know what it’s going to be called.
Now, however, a known leaker may have shed some light on that in particular. Over on Twitter, @Kurasakis – who accurately leaked the name and existence of Sonic X Shadow Generations before it was officially announced – has claimed that Skydance New Media’s Marvel game will be titled Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
Previously, it was officially confirmed that the game will be set during World War 2. Captain America and T’Challa’s grandfather Azzuri – the Black Panther of that time – will star as protagonists, but they’ll also be joined by two additional, non-superpowered playable characters in Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones and Wakandan Spy Network leader Nanali.
Skydance New Media has said that the game is going to be a “deeply cinematic” experience, similar to Amy Hennig’s past works. Meanwhile, though it will have multiple playable characters teaming up together, co-op won’t be featured.
