Sega says Sonic Superstars had a ‘weaker start than anticipated’

Funko has been pretty busy this festive period, although, with more than 13,000 Pops now out in the world, you could argue it's never really not busy. It's not done with 2023 just yet though as first looks at new figures releasing before the end of the year have appeared online. All of them Sonic figures, there appear to be eight Pops in total that will expand Sonic's Funko collection very soon.

With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 set to introduce Shadow, it's no surprise that fans are hoping the film takes inspiration from Sonic Adventure 2. In fact, some fans have taken this further, hoping the movie features Sonic Adventure 2's iconic theme song, Live & Learn by Crush 40.

Carrying on something of a series tradition, Sega has announced some new free that fans can grab to celebrate the holiday season.

Releasing today, the title comes from Sega HARDlight, a Sega-founded developer with a focus on mobile games which has previously produced other titles with the IP like and. An Apple Arcade exclusive, the new title centers around the Reverie, an ancient device capable of making dreams come true.

Sonic Dream Team, the forthcoming mobile game, will put players in an «exhilarating flow state», according to Sega Hardlight studio creative director Dan Rossati.

While it’s been most people’s guess that filming is going well by now, confirmation is always good to see. There’s little confirmed about Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but with a recent announcement concerning the project’s progress, we have a little more to go on.

After literal decades of middling-to-terrible 3D Sonic games, it seemed like an actual honest-to-god miracle that the Sonic movie and its sequel were so successful. Both movies got largely positive reviews, were praised for the performances of Ben Schwartz as Sonic and Jim Carrey as Robotnik, and made $300 million and $400 million, respectively.
