The Finals developer Nexon is reportedly working on a new game based on Game of Thrones. Nexon saw a lot of success with the release of The Finals last December, and it seems like the developer is looking to replicate this with the popular book franchise and HBO show.
Game of Thrones has had a number of video game adaptations in the past, but most had mixed reviews from fans and critics. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series showed a lot of promise, but it was canceled after one season when Telltale Games closed (and eventually reopened) in 2018. Meanwhile, one of the highest-rated Game of Thrones titles with an 84% Metacritic score is Reigns: Game of Thrones, which is a strategy game with a swiping mechanic similar to a dating app.
According to a report by Redanian Intelligence, Nexon is reportedly working on a new Game of Thrones MMORPG. The still-untitled project is said to be an online game, which is similar to Diablo Immortal's format. The report also claims that players can choose between male and female characters, which may mean they'll play customized characters and not as one of the original Game of Thrones characters.
