Roguelike darling Risk of Rain 2 finally unveils its second expansion following cryptic Steam teasers

A new Risk of Rain game is in development, and here comes the enormous but attached to that news: it's a free-to-play mobile gacha game in the works at a new studio under the series' new owner, Gearbox Publishing.

The original Risk Of Rain was a chaotic, 2D sidescroller about turning a tiny character into a wandering projectile swarm. It's sequel mimicked the systems but switched from pixel art to 3D - and in my eyes lost a little of its readability in the process.

Gearbox has announced a new DLC for co-op roguelike action game Risk of Rain 2. Titled Seekers of the Storm, the DLC will be the second expansion for the game, and was announced alongside an animated trailer focusing on its story and new character.

Risk of Rain 2 keeps on trucking. After last year's Survivors of the Void expansion added two new survivors and a smattering of new items and stages, Gearbox is following it up with Seekers of the Storm, which will again include «new survivors, new levels, and monsters, and more.» The most notable bit of the «more» this time is almost certainly a new villain named The False Son, who is born out of some deep deep Risk of Rain lore I had no idea existed.
