The Planetside 3 Question - Will the legendary MMOFPS franchise get another sequel?

The Planetside franchise, especially the latest entry Planetside 2 , is a fascinating experiment in the realm of MMOs. It’s one of very few titles that has managed to capture the chaos and havoc of an ongoing, never-ending war in real time. Fighting the enemy in PS2 for the glory of your faction isn’t just a single quest line or DLC, it’s the entire game. There are very few true MMOFPS (Massively Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter) games out there, and Planetside 2 is certainly a contender for the best performing one.

Controversial FPS game, rejected by Valve, suddenly returns to Steam

Postal 3 is an unusual game. Lurid, vulgar, and deliciously dedicated to poor taste – just like the rest of the Postal series – it’s even been disowned by co-creator Running With Scissors. After vanishing from Steam, apparently owing to issues with Valve, surrounding download-rights management (DRM), Postal 3 is suddenly back. If you want to sample this interesting piece of gaming history, and the semi-official connecting tissue between Postal 2 and Postal 4, now’s the time.

Steam’s coolest FPS game is 70% off right now, and you need to play it

Superhot. Super. Hot. Super. Hot. Words that will forever ring around your skull after playing this time-manipulating, ultra-slick Steam shooter. There’s no going back from playing Superhot; it’ll change your perception of the FPS genre, alter how you think about combat altogether, and probably ensure you never say the word “super” in a normal voice ever again. Superhot and Superhot VR are two of the coolest and most essential games on PC, and they’re both going cheap right now in a Steam sale.

Chivalry meets QWOP in silly medieval combat sim with free Steam demo

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Chivalry, Mount and Blade, For Honor, and Mordhau, Half Sword is a ridiculous medieval combat sim filled with historically accurate weapons and armor. It’s gleefully silly, strikingly gory, and immediately, unquestionably a lot of fun. After blowing up online on social media platforms including TikTok, you can now play Half Sword yourself for free thanks to a new Steam demo.

I have the very fortunate position of getting to review the latest and greatest gaming controllers for a living. If you ask me to pick a side on the controller-versus-mouse-and-keyboard war, I will knowingly go down swinging, and pick a gamepad pretty much every time. Now before you call me an idiot on Twitter, I know - first-person aiming with a mouse and the number of functions on a keyboard vastly outperform the very best controllers that exist. But still, I prefer a pro controller.

Civilization goes to Hell, as brutal new strategy game gets free demo

Between Ara History Untold, Millennia, Cities Skylines 2, Civilization 7, and Total War Pharaoh, there are a lot of new strategy and management sims on the way. Solium Infernum seems different from all of them. A combination of Civ, Doom, and – according to its developer – a bit of Dark Souls, Solium casts you as one of several archfiends vying for control of the infernal throne after the sudden disappearance of Lucifer. Military might is important, but the key to victory in Solium is bureaucracy, politics, psychology, and manipulation. Imagine navigating the back-biting, gossiping, and fickle cliques of high school, but while simultaneously fighting a blood feud in the lowest reaches of damnation. After a lot of anticipation, we’ve finally had the chance to play Solium. Even better, you can, too, thanks to a huge new demo now available via Steam Next Fest.
