It’s been two weeks since Alan Wake 2, the sequel to Remedy Entertainment’s 2010 cult action-horror game, was released, and I can’t stop thinking about it. Between the introduction of protagonist and FBI profiler Saga Anderson and the mystery-board storytelling mechanics of the game’s Mind Place system (not to mention a forthcoming new game plus feature and DLC slated for next year), I’m obsessed with Remedy Entertainment’s latest game — much in the same way I was with its last new release, 2019’s Control.
Remedy Shares Latest Updates on Control 2, Max Payne Remake - Hardcore Gamer

Last week, Remedy launched the long-awaited sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake, which continues the journey of the beleaguered author as he searches for a way out of the Dark Place.
While we know that Alan Wake 2 will be receiving both free and premium DLC in 2024, Remedy has previously announced several other projects that are being developed alongside the psychological horror game. As part of their quarterly financial reports, CEO Tero Virtala has shared the latest progress on four of these upcoming titles.
First up is another sequel, Control 2, which will feature new adventures for the latest head of the Federal Bureau of Control, Jesse Faden. First teased in 2021 and then confirmed as a direct follow-up last year, Control 2 is currently in the proof-of-concept phase, and remains without an estimated release window. Virtala continues “The plans for this sequel are ambitious, and we have seen good progress both in the designs and in the game build. We will continue at this stage for the next few quarters. We focus on proving the identified key elements before moving to the next stage and scaling up the team.”
Next is the second project set in the same universe of Control (and by extension, Alan Wake), Condor, the codename given to the upcoming co-op multiplayer game that seems to take place in the Oldest House per the game’s first concept image from 2021. Condor appears to be farther along as it has moved from the proof-of-concept stage to the production readiness stage. Virtala adds “We have acquired valuable insights into developing service-based games and are now in a better position to create a game players can engage with for years.”
In addition to their ongoing partnerships with publishers Epic Games and 505 Games, Remedy is also working with Tencent to create a free-to-play PvE shooter that will utilize Unreal Engine as opposed to the studio’s in-house engine Northlight. The project, Codename Vanguard, is making progress as “we are defining the next stages of the project with our publishing partner. At the same time the project is aiming towards completing the proof-of-concept stage by the end of the year,” per Virtala.
Finally, Remedy and Rockstar Games made a joint announcement last year that both Max Payne and its sequel were being combined into a single remake, with the game entering the concept development stage upon its reveal. Now, the studio has shared that the remake has entered the production readiness stage, with Virtala stating “We have gained clarity on the style and scope of the game, and we have an exceptionally well-organized team working on it. With these accomplishments, we are excited about the project and its future success.”
