You should be pretty familiar with the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium cadence now, which sees the addition of new titles every month – and also the departure of some releases as well. This coming 19th September, 2023, several somewhat high-profile titles will exit Sony’s service, including Deathloop and Watch Dogs 2. It’s possible they could one day return, but this is your last chance to play for now.

Sony has annoucned the PlayStation Plus Game Catalogue update for August 2023, adding a bunch of games, new and old, to the game libraries included with PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium subscriptions.
With new games like the turn-based RPG of Sea of Stars and co-op shenanigans of Moving Out 2, modern greats like Judgment and some more Classics, there’s a healthy clutch of additions in August. All of the games will be joining the subscription game library on Tuesday 15th August, except for Sea of Stars, which is launching on 29th August.
While Sony giveth with one hand, the limited time contracts also taketh away. There’s a bunch of games leaving PS Plus’ game catalogue on 15th August, and you can find out more about these here.
Also included each month alongside the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalogue updates are the free games as part of PlayStation Plus Essential service. It’s a solid, if unspectacular month, with NBA 2K23 the biggest game of the month. Here’s the full PS Plus Essential line up.
The PlayStation Plus relaunch rolled out around the world in June 2022, transforming the PS Plus we once knew into a three tiered subscription service that bundles in and expands what was once PlayStation Now. The classic PS Plus is now called PS Plus Essential, giving access to online multiplayer gaming, cloud save backups, exclusive offers and at least 2 free monthly games. PS Plus Extra then adds a catalogue of PS4 and PS5 games into the mix, while PS Plus Deluxe and Premium (depending on your region) adds older PS2, PS1 and PSP game emulation, and game streaming for PS3 and other titles.
