Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, Lost Judgment, Dreams and More Coming to PS Plus Extra/Premium in August

It's launch day for the next chapter in Guild Wars 2 with the release of the newest expansion, Secrets of the Obscure on PC. This is the fourth expansion, but the first following the 10-year-long Elder Dragon Saga. Basketball season is fast approaching, and so is a new opportunity to virtually get in on the action: NBA 2K24 New Gen. 2K shared preliminary information about the game in July but has just announced new details about September 8th's NBA 2K24, including adding a LeBron Era. This new mode follows LeBron James' 2010 journey of leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Miami Heat and leads into the already existing Modern Era. NBA 2K23 also introduced the Magic vs. Bird Era, Jordan Era and Kobe Era to the game.

It’s hardly a secret that Destiny 2 and Bungie are in a bit of a pickle right now. Most years, the big “State of the Game” blogs used to signal big batches of positive changes coming to the game with the next paid DLC. This did not happen this time around. Instead, the community raised pitchforks after Bungie clarified that, no, there wasn’t a big PvP content drop on the horizon. And no, there was no yearly ritual armor refresh because the team was too busy working on microtransaction armor.

The Exotic/Legendary vendor Xur has returned to Bungie’s Destiny 2, residing in the European Dead Zone on Earth till the next weekly reset. This week, he has the Lord of Wolves, an Exotic Energy shotgun with burst-fire properties.

Starting August 15, all high-tier PS Plus members can delve into Savathûn's Throne World, as you uncover the mystery of how she and her Lucent Hive stole the Light — across a set of maps ranging between gothic cathedrals, palaces, swamps, and a mysterious black pyramid on the icy moon of Europa. Often considered one of the best Destiny 2 campaign packs, it will be available on the PS4 and PS5. Another key highlight this month is Sea of Stars, an eye-catching indie RPG, where two Children of the Solstice head out on an adventure to defend the lands against the monstrous creations of an evil alchemist. This one, however, is slated to drop a bit later on August 29.

Sony has announced the latest lineup of games coming to their PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers in August. This month, subscribers can jump into the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Expansion, Yakuza spinoff Lost Judgment, new-release retro RPG Sea of Stars, and more. Meanwhile, Classic-tier subscribers get another dose of Ape Escape and MediEvil: Resurrection.
