HITMAN maker IO Interactive has lofty aims when it comes to the quality of gameplay animation they want to achieve in Project 007. The game developer is hiring animators, and the studio's Twitter account has shared a few statements from members of the Animation team to intrigue would-be candidates. Joshua Andrew Gleaves, Senior Gameplay Animator, said:
We are pushing Gameplay Animation to something yet unseen. It's constantly challenging, yet rewarding, as the team push each other to achieve new heights. You will help cement the animations on Bond and the world we are making, on an exciting new canvas.

Gemma Costa, Senior Cinematic Animator, commented on the exciting vibe felt within the Project 007 team:
We have a solid team that covers all aspects of the animation process. Everyone owns their space, and there is a lot of open collaboration between teams. You are really hands-on in several aspects of the production. It's amazing how well that aspect works in IOI. There is a lot of enthusiasm and drive to grow.
The team is hiring a Cinematic Gameplay Animator, a Gameplay Animator, and a Facial Animator, but that's just a small sliver of the open roles listed on IO Interactive's website. For Project 007 alone, the studio is seeking 22 roles. That could seem strange given the date of the game's announcement (November 2020). However, the games industry is known for its high turnaround of employees. As such, it is not unusual for developers to keep hiring throughout the whole development of a game.
We don't know much about Project 007. So far, IO Interactive only said it will be an entirely new origin story of the first James Bond. The developer has recently opened new offices in Istanbul and Brighton to develop Project 007 and its other major project, the online fantasy roleplaying game unveiled last February. The latter is still a few years away, though, so we should see Bond's game way earlier.

Hello Games is once again back with a massive No Man's Sky update called OMEGA. The headline feature is the addition of the titular Expedition (due to run for four weeks), which the studio said has been created from scratch to be the ideal introduction to newcomers. The over 25 free updates released to date might feel overwhelming from the outside, but this Expedition will guide new users through the basics of base building, trading, space combat, lore, and more, thanks to a series of milestones and quick missions. At the same time, the OMEGA Expedition features some of the best rewards available through Expeditions, such as a particularly cool starship.
No Rest for the Wicked is the unexpected next project from Moon Studios, the developer behind the Ori series. But rather than make another Metroidvania platformer, the studio has entered the exciting world of action RPGs and it hopes to make a serious mark with its very non-Diablo approach to combat.

IO Interactive announced back in 2020 that it had started development on a James Bond game, tentatively being called Project 007, but details on the game since then have been scant. A job ad that has recently surfaced might be pointing to a particularly interesting tidbit about the game, however.
The best-selling game of 2023, Hogwarts Legacy, has sold over 24 million units to date. The news came from Variety, which also outlined the ambitious plan Warner Bros. Discovery has for growth in the gaming space. The company values Harry Potter (the IP behind Hogwarts Legacy), Mortal Kombat (which has sold three million units since its debut last September), DC, and Game of Thrones franchises $1 billion each for their gaming potential, and it plans to capitalize on them all.

Game developer People Can Fly has laid off around thirty developers from an unannounced Square Enix game codenamed Project Gemini. The news was broken yesterday by Kotaku, which obtained an email sent by Development Director Adam Alker to his fellow employees. Alker chalked the layoffs to budget limitations and a decision to shrink the game's scope.

Half Mermaid, led by Sam Barlow, is known for making video games using FMV, and they often require the player to sort through footage to solve mysteries. But for the studio's next projects, it seems the mystery will begin before the games are even announced – today, two Steam listings were posted on Half Mermaid's developer page, but most of their information is redacted.
