Previous Supergiant Game Seeing Major Resurgence Thanks to Hades 2

Hades 2 early access players can poke around to "find clues" about the roguelike sequel's coming updates.

Supergiant Games has released Hades 2’s first patch following its Early Access release last week.

As many an indie-game developer has already attested – Hades II’s stealth launch into Early Access caught a lot of people off-guard. But then why not start as you mean to go on? After all, surprise is one of the most important ingredients of a Roguelike. And when you’re making a sequel, springing such shocks becomes that bit harder. 

Since Hades II launched in Early Access just over a week ago, developer Supergiant Games has been collecting feedback from players. Now, some of that feedback has been put to use in the game's first patch, and there are still more adjustments on their way.

Helldivers 2’s ongoing meta-narrative took another twist this week after players failed the last Major Order and thus failed to unlock a promised new Stratagem.

Supergiant Games has shared details about Hades 2’s first patch following its Early Access release last week.

Greek god pulverizing simulator Hades 2 is getting its first patch "later this month", say the developers. Two things are on their to-tweak list. First, something might change about the way resource gathering tools are used (the pickaxe you use to mine silver during a run, for example). Second, and perhaps more significant, is an upcoming change to the way Melinoë's dash and sprint work. We don't know exactly what that change is but, according to Supergiant, it has something to do with your witchy batterer's "distinct style".

Shortly after generative AI became the hottest topic in pretty much every industry, Inworld started making headlines in 2023 with its Character Engine technology that was first implemented in a series of PC games (Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Grand Theft Auto V) by modder Bloc.

A Prince of Persia game from the studio behind Dead Cells was supposed to hit early access on PC on May 14. That’s no longer the case. Evil Empire says The Rogue Prince of Persia’s debut is delayed until later this month, and it’s because of a little game called Hades II.

Less than 24 hours after launching on Steam, the early access version of Hades 2 has already doubled the all-time peak concurrent player account set by the original Hades. While Supergiant Games certainly found success with its earlier titles like Bastion, Pyre, and Transistor, the studio really took off after it released the roguelike action title, Hades. Although Hades was originally an Epic Games store exclusive, it eventually launched on Steam a year later in 2019 through Early access, releasing Version 1.0 on September 17, before eventually launching across most other platforms like the Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.

Without any warning, Hades 2 has launched into early access on both Steam and the Epic Games Store for players to hack and slash through the levels. 

After Sony U-turned on its controversial decision to force Helldivers 2 PC gamers to account link to PlayStation Network, the game’s community has launched an initiative to drag Steam user reviews out from under rock bottom.
