Back in 2020 IllFonic released Predator: Hunting Grounds, another take on the asymmetric multiplayer formula they’ve employed with titles like Friday the 13th: The Game and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. Somewhat oddly, the game was published by Sony as a PC and PS4 console exclusive. Despite the big-name publisher, the game kind of came and went without too much fanfare, but now it seems IllFonic is preparing the revive the game on current-gen platforms.
IllFonic has announced they’ve taken over publishing duties for Predator: Hunting Grounds and will be officially releasing the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. IllFonic will pave the way for this with an update in April that will focus on balance tweaks and various improvements, and then later in 2024 the current-gen console ports will be delivered. After that, new content will be added to the game into 2025. Here’s a timeline of what’s coming…

Winter 2024: New Predators
Spring 2025: More new Predators
Predator: Hunting Grounds received mixed reviews at launch (including from Wccftech) but apparently it’s been able to hold on to some sort of audience, so hopefully they can bring things up to snuff via the upcoming patch. Here’s the game’s official description…
“Predator: Hunting Grounds is an immersive asymmetrical shooter set in remote areas worldwide. Play as an elite special forces team member - the Fireteam - and complete operations before the Predator finds you. Then again, what better way to bond with your fellow Fireteam than to try to turn the tables on the Yautja… Hunt the Hunter! Or play as the Predator to hunt the most worthy prey, choosing from your vast array of deadly alien tech to collect your trophies one by one. The Predator’s mission is clear: The Hunt. Study the warriors in the jungle and choose the best of the best to engage. Dispatch your targets and collect trophies to display as tokens of each hunt. Do not let your prey escape. Failure is not an option.”
Predator: Hunting Grounds can be played on PC and PS4 (and PS5 via backward compatibility). The game will arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in late 2024.

Lanfall Publishing has commented on the possibility of the recently released Content Warning being ported to PlayStation and Xbox consoles, saying it's possible but it might be a while before it happens. Content Warning was released on April Fools' Day for free for a very limited time, and is a game where players are tasked with joining their friends in filming spooky things happening in the world to become viral on SpookyTube. Thanks to the nonexistent price point very early on, the game became incredibly popular, garnering over six million downloads within a short amount of time.

One of the best games in the Xbox Series X/S’ library, Hi-Fi Rush, recently made its way over to PS5, as part of Microsoft’s initiative to bring more of its first-party titles to rival platforms, and though the rhythm action title’s PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are virtually identical where their visual and technical aspects are concerned, interestingly enough, it turns out it actually has a slight edge on Sony’s console.
As promised, CD Projekt RED has rolled out a free trial for Cyberpunk 2077 on current-gen consoles. Xbox Series X/S and PS5 players can enjoy five hours of the game until March 31st, 11:59 PM PDT.
Remember IllFonic’s asymmetrical multiplayer title based on a popular movie franchise? No, not Friday the 13th: The Game or Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, but Predator: Hunting Grounds. Published by Sony for PS4 and PC, it’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in late 2024, with IllFonic taking over publishing duties.
