A Pokemon fan artist has created an original rendering of a female design for Kingambit. He posted the image online complete with type, ability, and an original Pokedex entry. This is part of a series of fan art creations building on Game Freak's designs, which have included a Mega Evolution for Flygon. The artist has also drawn his visions for female counterparts to Durant and Probopass.
Kingambit was introduced in Generation 9 with the gamesPokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. Kingambit evolves from Bisharp, the evolution of Pawniard. Despite the suggestion of its name and appearance, Kingambit can be male or female in the game by design. Many Pokemon have a distinguishing characteristic between the genders. For example, a male Pyroar will have a full lion's mane, whereas a female Pyroar will have a long tuft of fiery hair. While this art may be a fan design, there have been gender-specific evolutionary forms added to the games in the past.
The female iteration has been named by her creator as Queengambit. She was created by JJonny Draws as one of several Pokemon that he has re-imagined with female-specific evolutions. A fan of Pokemon and animals, JJonny Draws focused on the feminine aspects of a Pokemon, rather than just giving them a distinguishing physical characteristic. This image bears a striking resemblance to a Bisharp with long, flowing black hair and a pair of high-heeled steel boots. This isn't the first popular fan art of a Bisharp.
No other information pertinent to a trainer is provided, such as: evolution requirements, move pool, egg group, height, weight, and most importantly, stat spread. There is no telling if she would follow the same evolutionary requirements to evolve into Kingambit. Without Gallade and the Hitmon-family, the gender split would cut Kingambit's egg group by four.
Kingambit is not the only Pokemon to have female forms with the same male-sounding name and look. Slowking, Seaking, Kingler, Kingdra, Mr. Mime, and Slaking all have male and female forms (even Mime, Jr.) that are similarly identical.
Although this is fan art, Pokemon has changed things up from time to time by adding a new form of a Pokemon. Generation 4 gave players the option of whether to evolve their male Kirlia into a Gardevoir or a Gallade. Some years later, a Gen 9 fan created original art for paradox versions of Gardevoir and Gallade. As another example, only the female forms of Combee (Gen 4) and Salandit (Gen 7) can respectively evolve to Vespiquen and Salazzle. But aside from the Nidoran family, the vast majority of the Pokemon world share the same evolution, whether male or female.
