The update brings a major shakeup to the game’s implementation of New Game Plus, removing vestiges until NG+3, at which point the game offers its biggest challenges.

However, this new set of guidelines recently released by Nintendo threatens to wipe out local Melee community tournaments for good.

Nintendo has released strict new guidelines for the smaller-scale competitive tournament scene, outlining exactly what it will permit — with caps on everything from competitor numbers to ticket prices — before organisers must apply for an official license from the company.
