Game maker Take-Two Interactive has filed a lawsuit against Max Payne maker Remedy Entertainment, citing copyright infringement. Take-Two claims that Remedy Entertainment’s «R» Remedy logo is too similar to Rockstar’s «R» logo.

Take-Two Interactive, which owns Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games, and Remedy Entertainment are doing more together than just making Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne remakes. Both companies are also in a trademark dispute, in the United Kingdom, over the use of the letter “R,” as first reported by gaming website RespawnFirst.

The Oh Deer Alan Wake thermos has been sought after by franchise fans, but it has proven difficult to secure one. It was briefly restocked by iam8bit, but not many have managed to get one for themselves, as they have sold out in seconds.

It took years after the release of Alan Wake before Remedy Entertainment could return and bring out a proper sequel. The game development team had previously tried to deliver a game installment to keep the narrative going for Alan Wake; however, nothing quite lined up in their favor. Instead, they went on to create games like Quantum Break and Control. However, since the release of Control, the developers were finally able to pick Alan Wake back up and deliver a new game for fans. Now that this Alan Wake 2 game is finally available, the development studio is crediting the folks over at Epic Games for giving them the creative freedom required to deliver such an acclaimed hit.

Remedy Entertainment has responded to the worries regarding the demanding PC system requirements of Alan Wake 2, saying it «played real safe» with the settings.

The full reveal of the Alan Wake 2 system requirements last week left a lot of fans unhappy. They're steep: The minimum spec for 1080p, 30 fps gameplay at the low graphics preset is an Intel i5-7600K CPU, RTX 2060 GPU, and 16GB RAM, and a sharp ramp up from there into recommended, ultra, and ray tracing requirements. But some optimistic gamers expressed hope that Remedy was inflating the PC system requirements for Alan Wake 2 in order to ensure that it runs well on all specs, even at the low end, and that's apparently the case.

Alan Wake 2 is almost here – it hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on Friday, October 27. Its release this week comes after developer Remedy Entertainment delayed the game 10 days earlier this summer. While there are plenty of visual options for players playing on PC – check out Alan Wake 2's PC spec requirements here – there are only two graphics modes for those picking it up on PS5 and Xbox Series X (and just one on Xbox Series S). In the nicest possible way, and with the greatest of respect, Remedy's comms director Thomas Puha would like people to stop fixating on frame-rate and resolution and get on with their bloody lives. Or at least, that's my summary of his thoughts following the recent announcement on Xitter that Alan Wake 2 will have a performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X, allowing consoleers for whom responsiveness is a priority to eke a higher frame-rate out of a game "built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance."

When Alan Wake 2 launches towards the end of the month, on PS5 and Xbox Series X, it will have a Performance Mode (which will run “mostly” at 60 FPS)- though the weaker Xbox sibling, Xbox Series S, will only have a 30 FPS option (which Remedy has stressed is going to be “rock-solid”).
