When it comes to Call of Duty, the game franchise has been in the headlines quite a bit this year. But it didn’t have to do with any specific video game installment. Instead, the focus lately had been on the franchise as a whole. The company was given a massive bid, and the only thing stopping this acquisition from going through was the regulators. The Nintendo 3DS, the company’s 2011 successor to the Nintendo DS, was discontinued in 2020, but the handheld console has continued to have a dedicated fanbase. While the Wii U and 3DS eShop shutdowns in late March have made it much harder to buy new games for the console, somehow, 3DS fans have persisted. Over the past three months, Nintendo has sold roughly 210,000 3DS games, according to its quarterly earnings results.

After one Hasbro rep suggested that Activision Blizzard had lost the hard drives that held the code for the well-loved Transformers games it published, Hasbro's PR is now saying that statement was made in error.

It was recently reported that the sequel of Immortals Fenyx Rising had been canceled amid a "reallocation of resources" within the studio. However, it is now being said that Assassin's Creed Red might be the reason behind this decision.

Reports claimed last year that Ubisoft Quebec was working on a sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising, this time shifting focus to a Polynesian mythology setting with a new art style. However, as per a recent report, the project has been cancelled, with Ubisoft also confirming that the decision was made so it could reallocate development teams at its Quebec studio to its “biggest brands”.

Ubisoft is finally answering years of fan requests with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, taking their historical stealthy-stabby series to a Feudal Japan setting. According to the publisher, the game is set to be the “biggest blockbuster for 2024,” but it might be so big that it’s actually responsible for the cancellation of another big Ubisoft sequel.
