Monster Hunter Wilds received its first proper gameplay trailer since its announcement at The Game Awards 2023. It showcases new monsters, locations and a much more detailed ecosystem. Capcom provided more information on the PlayStation Blog and confirmed a fully voiced protagonist, a series’ first.

Back in 2018, Monster Hunter World’s immediate success propelled the game, and the Monster Hunter franchise, into the global spotlight. Its lush maps, deep combat, and memorable monsters helped it become one of Capcom’s most successful projects ever. Today, millions of players now eagerly await 2025’s follow-up, Monster Hunter Wilds.New footage from State of Play and Summer Game Fest has given players lots to dissect, from new monsters and abilities to harsh, dynamic weather. But a recent hands-off presentation during Summer Game Fest allowed me to see live gameplay, and crucially how the game’s new features impact the experience.

Even with the handful of Monster Hunter Wilds trailers released so far, there’s still a lot we don’t know about. Over the weekend, I was lucky enough to watch a 30-minute Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay demo and talk with three veteran developers of the Monster Hunter series: art director and executive director Kaname Fujioka; series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto; and director Yuya Tokuda.

With Sony announcing its next State of Play for tomorrow and Summer Game Fest coming next week, Capcom could release the second trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds soon. This is according to Dealabs’ billbil-kun, who previously reported on God of War Ragnarok’s rumored PC announcement.

Capcom has recorded a seventh consecutive year of record-high profits, fueled by sales of the Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Dragon’s Dogma franchises.

Monster Hunter Wilds is planned for release in the first quarter of 2025, it’s claimed.

It’s been a long night of The Game Awards. Many trailers have been shown for upcoming games, but only one can be the final trailer. Capcom has taken that honor this year by revealing the newest installment in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds was the big final premiere at the 2023 Game Awards, with the above trailer confirming a 2025 release date.
