As it turns out, however, Team Asobi has yet more content planned for the platformer that it will be adding post-launch.

It was in 2018 with the launch of the incredible Astro Bot Rescue Mission that the mascot platformer IP really started gaining traction, while in 2020, the free PS5 pack-in tech demo Astro’s Playroom was also well received by players. Astro’s Playroom on PS5 has received a new update and new trophies.

Pre-orders go live for Team Asobi’s Astro Bot today, though it may already be available in your region. In a new PlayStation Blog post, studio head Nicolas Doucet details each of the editions while confirming that all players will receive a PaRappa the Rapper outfit and “Glorious Graffiti” paint color for the Dual Speeder early alongside two Astro avatars for free.

A new Astro Bot game for PlayStation 5 could be announced within weeks, it’s claimed.

During the latest episode of Giant Bomb's Game Mess Mornings, journalist and insider Jeff Grubb claimed that the new Astro Bot game might be released this year.

Though PS5’s first-party lineup for the coming months does feature the likes of Rise of the Ronin, Concord, Stellar Blade, and Until Dawn, as recently revealed by Sony, it won’t be receiving any new instalments in major existing franchises until at least April 2025. Even so, even in the absence of major, flagship releases on the level of something like a God of War or a Spider-Man, it seems like the console still has some notable first-party games for players to look forward to that haven’t yet been announced.
