Before the release of Spider-Man 2, we found out that Insomniac included an optional fall damage toggle to add a little bit more danger and realism to swinging around New York. There were a few complaints at the time, with some worried that it might be a little too frustrating. All those worries seem to have faded now the game has released though, as fans are beginning to realize how funny it is watching Peter and Miles bounce off the concrete after jumping from the top of a skyscraper.

Speaking to the BBC recently, creative director of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Bryan Intihar, details some of the character choices made within the Insomniac Games studio around the game's main characters, Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales opens with a smooth rumble of the Dual Sense controller and into 125th Street subway station, Harlem. The follow-up to 2018’s Spider-Man, knows exactly where it needs to place Miles to set the stage for a world that celebrates its title character’s culture. As Miles sets foot into the neighborhood he will soon fight to protect, we immediately see what sets this Spider-Man apart. Effectively known as the “Main Street” of Harlem, this neighborhood is known as a center of commerce, brimming with cultural significance. It’s where we first see Miles Morales take center stage. We’re greeted with the ice and snow-packed streets of New York at Christmas, and a thumping beat that Miles bops his head to. There is a sense of community and culture that Insomniac has taken meticulous care to craft.

Ahead of the game's release later this month, various unlockable Spider-Man 2 suits for both Peter Parker and Miles Morales have been shown off.

One of the biggest highlights from Insomniac Games’ dive into the realm of Spider-Man was that they made it clear rather early that both Peter Parker and Miles Morales were part of this universe. In a recent episode of GamerTag Radio, Insomniac Games’ associate animation director James Ham said that players will be able to find the opposite Spider-Man — if they’re playing as Peter, then they’ll run into Miles, and vice versa — and join them in fighting crime in Spider-Man 2.
