Greetings, Polygon readers! Each week, we round up the most notable new releases to streaming and VOD, highlighting the biggest and best new movies for you to watch at home.
If you're looking for something new to watch this weekend, you're in luck: whether you're in the mood for a movie night or a new binge-watch, Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, and more are stacked with new releases.
The (unofficial) theme of new TV this week: reality.
Filming on The Last of Us season 2 is currently underway, and series star Pedro Pascal has an update on how things are going.
The winner in the Oscar nominations race Tuesday after a bruising year for the film industry was “Oppenheimer” with 13 nods, followed by the otherworldly “Poor Things” with 11 and the period epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” with 10 and yes, Barbie was there too. 2023 was marred by strikes and work stoppages for the cinema world, throwing production and release schedules into chaos. Looking to catch up ahead of the Academy Awards on March 10? Here's how (and where) to watch Oscar-nominated films online:
Martin Scorsese’s compelling, righteously furious crime epic Killers of the Flower Moon is now available to stream at home on Apple TV Plus, and it’s well worth watching if you didn’t catch it in theaters. Starring Robert De Niro in diabolical uncle mode, Leonardo DiCaprio in tortured idiot mode, and a luminous, movie-stealing, award-winning Lily Gladstone, the film tells the incredible, appalling true story of the wholesale murder of members of the wealthy Osage tribe in 1920s Oklahoma. Based on David Grann’s nonfiction bestseller, Scorsese’s movie focuses on the marriage of Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and Osage heiress Mollie (Gladstone), and the machinations of De Niro’s cattle baron Bill Hale as he attempts to secure Mollie’s family’s oil rights. It’s a damning portrait of American complicity, greed, and erasure.
Succession and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer were the biggest winners at the 2024 Golden Globes awards, which felt a little predictable given how thoroughly they dominated their respective categories — particularly the acting categories, which in a couple of different cases had three Succession performers dueling for the top spot. Greta Gerwig’s Barbie didn’t fare as well in the mix, even though it was nominated in many of the categories — ultimately, it only walked away with Best Original Song and the “Cinematic And Box Office Achievement” award.
Seth MacFarlane's filthy teddy bear character Ted and Martin Scorsese's true-crime epic “The Killers of the Flower Moon” are some of the new television, music and movies headed to a device near you.
Greetings, Polygon readers!
The Golden Globes 2024 nominations were revealed last night, with Greta Gerwig's feminist candy-coated romp Barbie, which dominated the box office charts this year, leading the pack. It's got a whopping 10 nominations, including one for Best Musical or Comedy, alongside acting nods for stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling (supporting). The awards show has also added two new categories to recognise the best in entertainment, starting with a ‘Cinematic and Box Office Achievement' category, which honours the biggest movies of the year, having grossed $150 million (about Rs. 1,250 crore) minimum, of which $100 million must be from within the US. Eight nominees compete for that award, including Barbie, Oppenheimer, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Awards season is officially upon us, and former Riverdale actor Charles Melton seems like a shoo-in to win the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

When Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, and screenwriter Eric Roth first set about adapting David Grann’s penetrating nonfiction book Killers of the Flower Moon, about the wholesale murder of the oil-rich Osage tribe in Oklahoma in the 1920s, the idea was that DiCaprio would play the hero. His original role: Tom White, a former Texas Ranger and investigator for the then-nascent FBI who brought some of those responsible to justice, including local cattle baron William King Hale and his nephew, Ernest Burkhart.
Martin Scorsese returns with a new movie for the first time since 2019's The Irishman with Killers of the Flower Moon. The film marks another collaboration between the director and actors Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, who play a powerful Oklahoma rancher and his nephew, Ernest. Rounding out the cast is Lily Gladstone, who plays Ernest's Osage wife and whose family is the victim of a string of brutal murders.
Martin Scorsese is a legend. The man has directed Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, The Wolf of Wall Street, and countless cinematic classics. Whenever he graces the big screen with his work, there is something to love. His new movie is, an epic Western crime drama. This time, Scorsese unites two actors he has worked with extensively over the past few decades: Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. We follow the real-life story of the members of the Osage Native American tribe in the 1920s who get killed one by one, leading to an FBI investigation.
Martin Scorsese’s is currently tracking to make more than $20 million at the box office during its opening weekend.
The series finale of Reservation Dogs, “Dig,” starts in jail. Willie Jack (Paulina Alexis) is visiting her auntie Hokti (Killers of the Flower Moon’s Lily Gladstone) with some news to share: A beloved elder close to both of them has passed.
Martin Scorsese has spoken a little more about his idea for a movie about Jesus Christ – and he wants to be in it.
Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon is set for a wide theatrical and IMAX release.
