Mintrocket's is coming to PlayStation Plus on April 16. As its name would suggest, the title follows a professional diver called Dave who catches unique fish during the day to serve at his seaside sushi restaurant at night. The title was released to extremely high acclaim on PC in June 2023, with a Nintendo Switch version released later that year. It sparked some controversy when it was nominated for the "" award at The Game Awards, however, as Mintrocket is a subsidiary of Nexon, Korea's biggest game company, and would have had more funding than most actual Indie developers.

Dave the Diver team Mintrocket has today announced the PS5 and PS4 versions of its 2023 indie hit will release on 16th April 2024, and they'll be available straight away via PS Plus Extra also. Current members of Sony's subscription service will be able to download and play the game without charge, granting them access to the original experience and a bit of Godzilla-themed DLC in May.

MINTROCKET will release DAVE THE DIVER for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on April 16, the developer announced. It will also be available as part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.

One of the smaller pleasant surprises at this year's Game Awards was the announcement of a free, Dredge-themed crossover DLC for Dave the Diver. The two fishing games will collide when the update launches on December 15.

Dave the Diver is already one of the most delightful success stories of 2023, as the fishing game and restaurant management sim splashed its way up the Steam charts and won the hearts and minds of players everywhere, including many of us here at PCGamesN. Now, developer Mintrocket announces that a free update landing in mid October will introduce plenty of new features to explore, giving plenty of reasons to pull your diving gear back out once more.

Dave The Diver sees you heading underneath the waves to hunt for various fish and sea life, turning them into delicious sushi dishes as you scramble to run a restaurant by night. While that's a ton to juggle on its own, the game has only just begun to surprise you with its in-depth minigames (Seahorse racing?!), varied characters, and wild plot.

The delightful Dave the Diver blends deep-dive fishing and running a sushi restaurant, and quickly laid claim to a spot as one of the best relaxing games on Steam following its launch. Now, the team at Mintrocket lays out its next big update, focused primarily on improving overall quality of life.

It might seem strange to hear that a fishing and sushi restaurant management game was inspired, in part, by the Metal Gear Solid series. But it makes more sense after you've played Dave the Diver. Sure, you spend a lot of time fishing and serving food, but among other surprises the game also has a few stealth sequences, including one where Dave has to slip past a bunch of armed goons on patrol.

You'd think running a seaside sushi restaurant would be a relaxing, low-stress experience, but despite the chill tropical vibes in Dave the Diver there's also quite a lot of pulse-pounding action. Just because he's working at a vacation destination doesn't mean his life is smooth sailing, and along with reef sharks and angry crabs nipping at his flippered feet, Dave often has to go head-to-head with fearsome boss monsters in the briny depths.
