Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav, has confirmed in an earnings call that the company is going to keep pushing monetisation and live-service elements for its "biggest franchises", despite attempts in games like Mortal Kombat 1 and Gotham Knights seeing major backlash.

The series deserves far better treatment than it has recently been receiving. Most are aware by now that has failed to impress both critics and players alike. Repetitive gameplay and microtransactions aside, its cringe-inducing story was an additional disappointment. For some, has missed its mark so drastically that it should not even be considered canon alongside the celebrated games that came before it. Player counts on Steam have remained at rock bottom, and even the recently released Joker DLC has failed to make a considerable difference in public interest.

The recently announced Black Panther game in development at EA may be open world, judging from a new job listing posted for the title. Given the amount of open world fatigue some gamers have experienced in recent years, this aspect of Black Panther could prove divisive if done poorly.

A new Marvel game will be officially announced tomorrow (that's the 27th March) at 8am PT / 11am ET / 3pm GMT. That's according to hype master Geoff Keighley, who's teasing the title on social media.

WB Games Montreal, the studio behind Gotham Knights, could be assisting Monolith Productions with its upcoming WonderWomangame — at least according to a newly discovered job listing. WB Montreal is already well familiar with the DC Universe, having helped Rocksteady with Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition for the Wii U in 2012 before releasing Batman: Arkham Origins the following year. Its next gaming venture took it outside of the Arkhamverse with Gotham Knights, a spiritual successor that shifted the focus toward the other members of the Bat Family as they carried out the mission of defending Gotham City after Batman’s death.

More than three years on from its announcement, little is known about Monolith Productions’ Wonder Woman game even now, but little snippets of information have nonetheless emerged here and there. Another one of those has been caught in a recently published job listing (via Tech4gamers), which reveals that the studio behind Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, WB Games Montreal, is providing development support for Wonder Woman.

We know Monolith Productions is hard at work when it comes to their next game, Wonder Woman. The game was unveiled a couple of years ago, and it’s been under wraps since. This game project might have quite a few anticipated players, but there were some concerning comments recently from Warner Bros., which might cause some new hesitations over what we can expect. 

WB Games Montreal is now looking for a Creative Director to help with an upcoming AAA game supposedly based on a popular franchise. Warner Bros’ gaming division has had a mixed output over the past year or so. Hogwarts Legacy became one of the highest-selling games of 2023, and Mortal Kombat 1 was quickly hailed as an excellent installment in the long-running fighting franchise. On the other hand, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League ultimately fell short of Warner Bros Discovery’s expectations at the beginning of this year.

It’s almost time for Sony to announce the next wave of titles coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in October. Thanks to renowned leaker bilbil-kun on Dealabs, some titles have been revealed, starting with WB Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights. The co-op action RPG recently arrived on Game Pass for Xbox and PC.

Over the last few years, there have been numerous games that went from “hyped titles” to being “garbage” upon launch. It’s never something you want to see, and yet, it happens more times than you’d expect, even when it’s with developers and franchises that you’d expect great things from. Last year, Gotham Knights was one of several titles that fell into the pit of despair after players and critics got their hands on it. Pretty much everyone agreed that it was an example of wasted potential and wondered how things fell so far so fast, and the idea of DLC isn’t going to excite many people.
