Overwatch 2 has unveiled the 12 heroes who will have their abilities remixed for the new limited-time Mirrorwatch mode. Season 10 of Overwatch 2 has recently begun, adding the first new DPS hero since Sojourn, Venture, a drill-wielding excavator who can burrow underground and pop out from under opponents for big damage. The tenth season also made all previous mythic hero skins available in the in-game shop and lets players test out the new Clash game mode on its dedicated Hanaoka map.
With Season 10's theme being Mirrorwatch, Overwatch 2 has remixed the affiliations of some of its most beloved heroes. In the battle pass, players can earn Overwatch agent skins for villains like Doomfist, Sombra, and Widowmaker, and Talon skins for Tracer, Sojourn, Reinhardt, and Ana. Additionally, the Mirrorwatch limited-time Arcade mode takes several Overwatch 2 heroes and shuffles up their abilities. The mode features new voice lines and ability visuals, along with utilizing the Control, Escort, and Hybrid game modes. Mirrorwatch even transforms the Overwatch outpost Watchpoint Gibraltar into a Talon base.
With Mirrorwatch having just gone live, Overwatch 2 went ahead and unveiled all the remixed hero abilities players will be able to use in the mode. Players will have access to a roster of 12 heroes: Doomfist, Reinhardt, Zarya, Bastion, Echo, Sombra, Tracer, Widowmaker, Ana, Brigitte, Mercy, and Zenyatta. Some of the major changes include Reinhardt's barrier, which has been transformed into Baptiste's amplification matrix; Zenyatta's ultimate, which disrupts opponents instead of healing allies; and Mercy's ultimate, which now lets her fire explosive projectiles from her staff. Additionally, Sombra will no longer be able to hack opponents, but can instead hack teammates to boost their damage, similar to Mercy's damage boost ability.
Along with other reworked abilities, like Brigitte's Whip Shot pulling targets toward her like Roadhog or Ana's Hanzo-like double jump, the Overwatch 2 team also created some new ability assets, like a waist-high deployable barrier for Widowmaker, and Reinhardt's aforementioned amplification barrier. It'll be interesting to see if any of these abilities will be implemented with future heroes, as a mode like Mirrorwatch and the previous April Fools patch, which was live earlier this month, seems like perfect testing grounds for the developers and fans to play around with new abilities.
While Mirrorwatch is only set to run until May 14, it seems like such a unique and refreshing idea that it wouldn't be surprising to see it return to the Arcade at some point down the road. This will, of course, depend on how well the mode performs during its brief window within Season 10. With the new DPS
