It’s been six years since Fallout 76 came out, and close to a decade since Fallout 4. Even if fervour surrounding the franchise wasn’t as high as it is right now thanks to the wild success of Amazon Prime’s Fallout series, demand for a new game would still be ravenous, but in the aftermath of the show, that feels doubly true. And even though it’s clearly going to be a while (to say the least) before that long-awaited new game releases, it seems like Bethesda might actually have two unannounced Fallout projects in the works in some capacity.
Original Fallout Creator "Loves" The Show

Legendary game developer Tim Cain gives the Fallout show his seal of approval after watching the first two episodes at the premiere. Cain, who created the series with the original game in 1997, says that the show "hit the vibe" of the classics.
After the premiere, he says that director Jonathan Nolan and showrunner Graham Wagner were eager to hear what he thought, with Cain saying he "loved it". He was particularly impressed with the set design, admitting that he often paid more attention to this than what was actually happening on screen.
Cain goes over his thoughts on the first two episodes as well as his experience with travelling to Hollywood for the premiere in the video below.
In short, Cain says he loved the show and thinks the fans will too. He admits he's still only seen the first two episodes, but so far he's full of praise for the show's interpretation of the series, including its characters and humour.
"I was literally on the edge of my seat," recounts Cain. "I liked it. I thought visually it was really good. I thought the humour was very good, they hit the vibe. Also, extremely well-acted, I was impressed."
Cain was particularly impressed with one of the showrunners, Graham Wagner, who he spoke to at the afterparty. "I think if you watch the show you're going to say it's based mostly on Fallout 4, but there are elements from all the Fallouts," says Cain. "And he has played all the Fallouts, from the beginning, he played them in order. He's a big Fallout fan."
Cain also briefly addresses some of the drama in the Fallout fanbase, as some believe there's ongoing hostility between the original Fallout creators and Bethesda, who has owned the IP since 2007.
The series creator shoots this down, saying that he and fellow classic Fallout lead, Brian Fargo, got along with Bethesda reps just fine at the premiere, including Todd Howard. "Part of me wishes you guys could go to things like this and meet the people," Cain says. "Not just play [a] game and then go off on the people."
Similarly, some fans have taken issue with the show's treatment of Fallout: New Vegas, a game developed by many of the original Fallout devs. So, while the show has been met with mostly positive reviews, it remains to be seen if fans can accept it as part of the series' lore going forward.
