In other words, Impa has retired from her age-old role, installing Paya in her place. It is entirely possible that, in line with her taking over from Impa in, the next game could have Paya acting in Impa’s typical advisory role.
The Sheikah tribe as a whole are notably capable of living extremely long lives, with Impa being the best example of this. Her self is incredibly ancient, having lived ever since the time of Hylia and Demise’s battle, while and ’s Impa is well over a century old. With this in mind,it would not be surprising to find an elderly Paya still alive in a time long after ’s events, perfectly positioned to guide the next incarnation of Link on his quest.
Alternatively, Paya could remain young-looking no matter the passage of time, courtesy of Purah’s anti-aging Rune. As of, it seems that only Purah has used her self-devised aging cure, with neither Impa nor Robbie making use of it themselves.
