Like other fantasy open-world RPGs, allows the player to have an abode of their own. Although there are multiple choices in Capcom's newest title for a player's home, spread across multiple locations, this home in the Common Quarter of Venworth, Vermund's capital, is technically free, at least for a period of time. Despite not costing in-game gold, it will cost time to do, being involved in a side quest associated with an NPC.
Although not a direct comparison, the ordeal is similar to that of Link's house in , which would normally cost a specific sum, but a series of quests allow the house to become both available to buy and far more affordable. Having a player home in has several benefits as well, including being able to rest for free and easy access to the Arisen's storage. With the prices that inns charge, a free house sounds even more appealing.
While running around the Common Quarter of Vermund's capital, an NPC named Mildred will approach the Arisen, giving them a quest called "" to house-sit the woman's home while she goes traveling. The abode is a modest one, consisting of a single room, which may seem underwhelming compared to the promised castle that the Arisen has a claim to, but free accommodation is nothing to sniff at. Mildred states that she will return in a week, leaving the humble dwelling in the player's care without asking anything in return.
The completion of the quest does not mean the Arisen has to sit idle. In fact, the player could choose not to return to the house at all in seven days and, as long as Mildred is interacted with afterward, the quest will be marked as successfully finished. It is worth returning to, however, as the Arisen's allies catch wind of their new housing situation and will pin some letters and gifts to the wall of the home, beside the door, from time to time. Plus, it will save a few days off of needing to pay an innkeeper.
After seven days, Mildred will return, standing outside her home. She will state that she enjoyed her travels so much that she has decided to leave Vernworth behind in favor of a new home. Her old home, which the Arisen has been residing in, will be offered to the player, but Mildred will state that she needs money to move away. For 20,000 gold, the Arisen can purchase the house, which is a fair asking price considering the exorbitant price of renting a room in an inn.
Some places in vast world charge over 9,000 gold for a single night at an inn. After three nights, the total bill would exceed the cost of Mildred's home.
Although it is technically free for a week, the player will need to fork out some cash to make it theirs permanently. In the early game, 20,000 gold is not a meek sum, yet seven days of free accommodation is

These party members were a big step up from Larian Studios' last title, thanks to more interactions and cinematic cutscenes, but that does not mean that all companions have been well executed.
