World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 3 opened the gates of Blackrock Depths, but only half of the massive dungeon is available for players to complete right now. However, some of the bosses from the latter part of the sprawling World of Warcraft dungeon can be found relaxing in the tavern within the instance.
The third phase of Season of Discovery recently went live, expanding the level cap on the World of Warcraft Classic servers to 50. This meant the opening of Blackrock Depths, one of the most infamous dungeons in WoW history.
However, not all the dungeon is available to players in Phase 3 of Season of Discovery. The first half of the massive instance is full of deadly mobs like normal, but the second half is completely empty for the time being, presumably until Phase 4 begins in a couple of months. That said, as reported by Wowhead, players can still find some of the bosses from the latter areas of the dungeon relaxing in the Grim Guzzler – the tavern located within the instance.

Blackrock Depths is the largest dungeon in World of Warcraft history – even larger than modern megadungeons. The sprawling capital of the Dark Iron Dwarves, Blackrock Depths has more than 20 bosses spread out across a labyrinthine city. The minimum level to enter the instance is 42, but with enemies ranging from levels 48 to 56, it is dangerous to enter before at least level 50 or higher due to high mob density. Clearing Blackrock Depths can easily take anywhere between four and six hours, making it one of the most iconic dungeons in World of Warcraft.
While players are excited to challenge this dungeon, many got a kick out of the bosses taking a load off at the Grim Guzzler. Emperor Dagran Thaurissan and Moira Bronzebeard were especially charming – though the former kidnapped the Ironforge princess originally, the two fell in love and had a son. Fans were glad to see them get this time together before they have to face down the dynamic duo in the full version of the Blackrock Mountain instance during WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 4.
In the meantime, Phase 3 of Season of Discovery has plenty of things for players to enjoy. The new World of Warcraft Classic update added the Sunken Temple raid, new Rune engravings, and even the ability to learn dual specialization,

As players continue to clear the 20-player Sunken Temple raid, they've started to notice that they're receiving fewer pieces of loot than in previous Phases. While each boss is dropping more pieces of loot, the increase in player requirement as well as a change to the lockout cadence is leaving players wondering if the development team made a mistake. Players have taken to Reddit, Twitter, and the Official Forums to share their feedback about the Sunken Temple loot situation. One commenter even broke it down and suggested that the Sunken Temple bosses should be dropping up to 10 pieces of loot in order to compensate for the number of players per raid and weekly lockout.
WoW Classic's Cataclysm servers are bringing back heaps of what you remember from the 14-year-old expansion, but not everything. An infamous line where Garrosh calls Sylvanas a "b***h" has been cut despite making a return just one month ago.
World of Warcraft recently implemented a restriction for new accounts in Classic Season of Discovery that stops them from trading with other characters, using the auction house, or sending and receiving in-game mail. These limitations, imposed on World of Warcraft accounts until they have had a paid subscription for at least 30 days, were added for similar reasons as last year’s restriction on WoW token purchases.
World of Warcraft just revealed an ambitious roadmap for Cataclysm Classic that will blitz through the iconic expansion in under a year. Starting with the Cataclysm Classic Pre-Patch on April 30 and its full release on May 20, World of Warcraft players will experience a new major update every few months until the final patch releases in January 2025.
Engineers in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery can unlock several crafting recipes that are usually restricted under the Goblin or Gnomish specializations. By completing a special quest from Season of Discovery Phase 3, World of Warcraft players can craft both Goblin and Gnomish Engineering items on the same character.
Hunter players in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery can obtain a special item that lets them tame Core Hounds in Phase 3. Though fans could tame these fiery beasts in retail World of Warcraft for a while, this is the first time Hunters have been able to get one in Classic Era.
World of Warcraft Classic has kicked off phase 3 of its Season of Discovery, bringing with it a host of new content, as well as raising the level cap up from 40 to 50. New content available in Season of Discovery includes six new runes for each class, as well as new PvE content.
WoW Classic Senior Game Producer, Josh Greenfield has confirmed that some bug fixes will be coming early next week. These include missing Dungeon loot, issues in Nightmare Incursions, adjustments to the Sunken Temple raid, and Rune fixes. Sunken Temple Race to World First Season of Discovery April 5th Hotfixes
World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery’s new Nightmare Incursions PvE event uses some old assets from the game’s original Emerald Dream zone idea. After nearly two decades, these old World of Warcraft items are finally getting the chance to see the light of day in Classic Season of Discovery Phase 3.
World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 3’s new Sunken Temple raid is extremely challenging, having walled players with its difficulty far longer than any other in Classic history. For the first time in World of Warcraft, a Classic raid hasn’t been conquered in a matter of hours, making the Sunken Temple one of the hardest raids in it to date.
Adventurers can now level from 41 to 50, earn up to 10 additional talent points, brave new encounters in the Sunken Temple (Temple of Atal’Hakkar) as a new 20-player raid dungeon, discover new runes and abilities, and more!
As World Of Warcraft Classic - an MMORPG that is, confusingly, a new version of the old version of World Of Warcraft - enters phase 3 of its Season Of Discovery, PCGamer has an interview with some of the devs where they talk about the decision to not run Player Test Realms - servers where they roll out the new content to smaller numbers of players to road test it. This means that when they launch new stuff for Seasons Of Discovery it'll probably break more often, but it means players get to discover brand new things together. Which is great! And the developers think it's good too.
