A remake of the critically acclaimed JRPG Persona 4 is said to be in development, according to a reliable Sega/Atlus insider. If true, this could be exciting news for fans of both the original Persona 4 and the recently released remake Persona 3 Reload. Unfortunately, though, there's a catch to this news.
Persona 4 was released back in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, and it has yet to receive any from-the-ground-up remakes. Some other games in the series, meanwhile, have gotten proper remakes on later platforms. Persona 1, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, for instance, received PSP-exclusive remakes, with the latter of the three having only been released in Japan. Meanwhile, Atlus just released a remake of the original Persona 3 titledPersona 3 Reload, which received rave reviews from critics and became the fastest-selling Atlus game ever. Fans who enjoyed the modernization of Persona 3's rather dated elements in Reload may be excited to hear that Persona 4 could be getting the same treatment, but they may have to wait a bit.
According to a tweet from Atlus insider Midori, a Persona 4 remake is still currently in development. But, in response to an individual asking about the status of the rumored project, Midori tells fans to «please wait for a while.» This likely means that it may be several years until fans get official confirmation of this game's alleged existence. Given that games have long development cycles these days, chances are this rumored remake of Persona 4 might not even be released during the current console generation. As such, those hoping to get their hands on this game may want to hold their breath in regard to a potential release as early as 2025 or 2026.
This isn't the first time rumors of a Persona 4 remake have sprouted up. Back in February 2024, Midori briefly mentioned that there were remakes of both Persona 2 and Persona 4 in the works at Atlus, in addition to one for Persona 1. Fellow insider I'm A Hero Too also corroborated these claims. They further stated that the Persona 4 remake was years away from development and that it had not entered production yet. This statement from I'm A Hero Too seems to hold more credibility now thanks to Midori making a similar claim.
Some fans have expressed the sentiment that a remake of Persona 4 is unnecessary, since the game is not nearly as dated as Persona 3 was. Others, on the other hand, are ecstatic about the idea of a Persona 4 remake because they'd like to see it brought up to the standards set by Persona 3 Reload, which does things better than Persona 5 in some instances. Nonetheless, it's perhaps best for those interested in Persona 4 to just play the game right now, since it appears the rumored remake is

An Xbox gamer recently purchased a $5 copy of Ubisoft's Riders Republic, but it arrived while still in the plastic security case. Big box retailers like to lock their games in special plastic boxes that are designed to be unlocked using a specific tool. These anti-theft devices help companies stop potential shoplifters from stealing Xbox games and other products, though they aren't always 100% successful.
