At the Invincible panel at New York Comic Con this past weekend, NetherRealm Studios revealed that Omni-Man will be the first downloadable fighter for Mortal Kombat 1, and that he will be available in November.
A new gameplay trailer focused on Omni-Man was shown during the panel, which showed a Fatal Blow and two Fatalities ripped straight from iconic moments from the comic book and TV show. The trailer also confirmed J.K. Simmons will reprise his role in the game--as his voice can be heard threatening Liu Kang and Scorpion--while also highlighting Tremor as the first downloadable Kameo fighter.
NetherRealm also confirmed the timeline for the first Kombat Pass, which is set to add six characters including Omni-Man to the roster between November and Summer 2024. The full release schedule is as follows:
While the studio did not also confirm when the other announced DLC Kameo fighters--Ferra, Khameleon, Mavado, and Johnny Cage--would launch, they did make one notable (and minor story spoiler) change: The Johnny Cage Kameo fighter will actually be Janet Cage, the gender-swapped version who briefly appears in the final chapter of MK1's campaign.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The Kombat Pass is also available now, either as a separate purchase for $40 or as part of the $110 Premium edition.

Ostensibly, the newest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 is about Omni-Man, the first post-launch DLC fighter coming as part of the game’s Kombat Pack. There’s a ton of gameplay, including a longer look at his Fatality, which is inspired by the gruesome subway scene from Invincible in which many innocent train passengers are killed. And there’s a release date for Omni-Man now; he’s coming to Mortal Kombat 1 on Nov. 9.
Game Pass subscribers have plenty to look forward to in the coming days. Microsoft has revealed the full list of games that will be added to the service’s library as part of its wave 1 lineup for the month of November, and there are a number of major titles included.
Mortal Kombat 1 is set in a new timeline written by Fire God Liu Kang, which means certain relationships and identities have changed. Kuai Liang is now Scorpion, Mileena and Kitana are sisters, and Tarkatan is a disease, not a people. That leaves the question of where the Kombat Kids fit in, but leakers may have found the answer in datamined DLC voice lines which were proven true by the Omni-Man trailer.
You'd be forgiven for thinking The Boys' big bad Supe Homelander is an unbeatable opponent, considering not even Soldier Boy could take him down (though spin-off Gen V may have introduced a character who can).
