Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has released November’s first PlayStation Plus games.
This month’s PlayStation Plus Essential titles are Aliens Fireteam Elite (PS4, PS5), Mafia II: Definitive Edition (PS4) and Dragon Ball: The Breakers (PS4).
Subscribers have until December 4 to claim the three games.
Essential is the entry-level PlayStation Plus membership tier, which offers subscribers access to a few ‘free’ games every month.
The service’s more expensive Extra and Premium tiers, which were introduced last summer, offer subscribers access to the Game Catalogue, a library of up to 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games, as well as Ubisoft+ Classics, a curated selection of titles from the Assassin’s Creed publisher.
Features reserved for Premium subscribers include game trials, cloud streaming, and access to the Classics Catalogue, which is a library of hundreds of games from the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PSP.
Earlier this month, the new Sony Pictures Core app was added to PS4 and PS5. It allows users to buy or rent up to 2,000 movies from their console and offers additional benefits to PlayStation Plus members.
Subscribers to the Premium or Deluxe tiers receive access to “a curated catalogue of up to 100 movies” to stream on demand, according to Sony. And throughout November, all PlayStation Plus members will receive a 15% discount on all content available through the app.
Sony increased PlayStation Plus subscription prices by up to 35% in September. The move saw the cost of 12-month subscription plans for the service’s Essential, Extra and Premium tiers rise by $20-$40 / £10-£20 / €12-€32 depending on the chosen membership plan.
“Like practically everything else in the world, we have to look at our pricing and we have to adjust to market conditions,” SIE’s head of global marketing, Eric Lempel, said of the price hikes in an interview published last month.

Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios is a massive game and quite daunting for those who know nothing of Dungeons and Dragons. Thankfully, for those who want a taste of the gameplay before purchasing, a two-hour trial is available now for PS5.
Immortals of Aveum didn’t get nearly as much traction as developer Ascendant Studios had hoped it would – something that had pretty disastrous consequences for the studio in the form of significant layoffs – but it looks like the developer is looking to put the game on PlayStation and Xbox’s subscription services in an effort to attract a larger player base.
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen leads the pack of new titles coming to the PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe/ Premium game catalog, this month. Starting November 21, all higher-tier PS Plus members can embark on an epic dark fantasy adventure as the Arisen, whose heart gets ripped out by a dragon early on, marking him as a warrior destined to face the mythical creature and unravel answers to a sinister conspiracy. The combat is heavily reminiscent of the Dark Souls games, albeit you've got a crew of AI companions who would assist you in tight situations. Play around with magic, ride atop griffins, slice off Hydra heads, and more when Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen comes to PS4.
