Despite well-documented hardware limitations, the Nintendo Switch can push framerates above 60 frames per second with extreme overclocking.
YouTube user Naga, who previously showcased how a modded console with 8GB of RAM can run select games with better performance and higher resolution, shared a new extreme overclocking test video showing how Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom runs at 720p, 900p, 1080p, 1440p and 4K resolution with CPU overclocked at 2499 MHz, GPU at 1497 MHz and RAM 3000 MHz. The results are rather interesting, as the system runs the game at close to 70 frames per second at 720p resolution, 60 FPS at 900p, and around 45 FPS at 1080p resolution. Surprisingly, the overclocked system can also hit 30 FPS at 1440p resolution while it predictably cannot deliver a playable experience at 4K resolution
Even if the game doesn't run particularly well on a vanilla Nintendo Switch, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a game no fan of open-world games should miss. While it doesn't revolutionize the experience introduced by its predecessor, the many tweaks it features make it a worthwhile game, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sticks closely to the blueprint established by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but it’s a richer, more rewarding game in most ways that count, offering a more intricate world, versatile suite of abilities, epic story, and satisfying dungeons. The familiarity of this Hyrule and a handful of frustrating sections keep Tears of the Kingdom from feeling quite as surprising and magical as its predecessor, but make no mistake, the wait has been worth it. While it probably behooves Nintendo to carve out an entirely new Legend next, Link’s latest should fill most fans’ heart meters nicely in the meantime.

Rumors about the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch have been swirling for the past couple of years, which is understandable considering that the company’s unique hybrid console originally launched in 2017.
