The premium controller market has continued to grow in recent years.

The original Jurassic Park was something of a cultural marvel 30 years ago and it’s held up quite well in many ways. The logo itself may be one of the greatest logos ever and hasn’t aged a day in that time, while the film’s effects are remarkable in scale, scope and execution. While licensed games aren’t as big a deal today as they were for most major films then, the Jurassic Park games did stand out for many reasons because they were largely pretty good games and also quite diverse i terms of the kinds of gameplay offered up in them. Both the SNES and Genesis got their own completely different games, with the SNES getting an overhead action game with some first-person sections and the Genesis getting a fantastic side-scrolling action game.

The fortress of Valfaris disappeared from the stars, and when it came back it was overrun with corruption.  Therion journeyed back to his home to cleanse it and learn why everything went so horribly wrong, but discovered his father, Lord Vroll, as the source of Valfaris’ ruin.  Justice for the citadel’s people was delayed due to Lord Vroll’s escape, but a determined Therion chased after and is ready to renew the attack.  This time, however, instead of a full heavy metal run and gun shooter it’s a side-scrolling blaster from the pilot seat of a giant mech.

The biggest new inclusion to this set is the new Ace Digimon who made their debut in the two starter decks released just last month featuring WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon. This mechanic allows players to counter during an opponent’s attack and digivolve for no cost if they have an appropriate Digimon and give themselves the opportunity to turn the tide of battle in their favor. The drawback being if that particular Ace card leaves the field the owner takes a hefty memory loss the moment it leaves. The Blast Ace set in particular focuses on four tamers from the original Digimon Adventure series including Mimi with Palmon, Tai with Agumon, Joe with Gomamon and T.K. With Patamon. All of these Digimon have received level 5 Ace Digimon making them dangerous early contenders to get out to sway the game.

Sometimes, despite best intentions and constant vigilance, a game manages to fly in under the radar.  A quiet fan-base that’s actually trying to be as noisy as possible builds up around it, and eventually people start noticing.  The phrase is supposed to be “sleeper hit” but honestly, the “hit” part is usually overselling things a bit.  For every Katamari Damacy that spawns a much-loved series there are a dozen Gitaroo Man, loved by the people who played it and either forgotten or unknown by everyone else.  Astlibra Revision actually did pretty ok for itself on PC but it’s still incredibly niche, but is more than good enough to deserve stronger recognition.  With today’s launch on Switch a whole new audience has a shot at some of the fastest and most versatile side-view combat an action-RPG has to offer.

A new trailer for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince draws near. This newest trailer emphasizes the monsters that Psaro will be wrangling and synthesizing in the upcoming monster catching game. The showcased monsters include some rather strange and food themed creatures, but anyone who has been following Dragon Quest is aware the numerous dreadful puns that are used in coming up with names for the bestiary. Some of these include the Goonache Goodie which appears to be a chocolate slime, Vegan Dragora, Croc-a-Bugle-Doo, King Jester Slime and the Sugar Baddie. These new and strange creatures will also be joined several of the more iconic Dragon Quest monsters that occupy the majority of the games such as the Great Sabrecub, Dracky, Funghoul and of course Slimes.

EA’s Need for Speed Unbound has continued to have different post race packs that include cars and cosmetic items. Volume 5 released back in October, which offers the most up-to-date content in the game that released nearly a year ago and was developed by Criterion Games. Today, EA has announced that both Volume 3 and Volume 4 are available as Catch-up packs on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Those who missed the previous Volumes will receive the rides and items included in those releases. Both Volumes retail for $9.99 each and contain two cars and more. Need for Speed Unbound can also be found on Black Friday discount at various retailers, currently.

Prepare for cosmic chaos as MultiversalME Studios unleashes their intergalactic multiplayer action arcade, Space Battle Royale, on Steam Early Access. This cosmic clash is set to kick off with a launch tournament on November 16th, offering top space aces the chance to snag a share of the $1500 prize pool.

Valve’s Steam Deck wasn’t the first portable gaming PC – but it was the first one to find a way to bring the technology into a price point that the general public could reasonably afford. As an early adopter, I’ve been overjoyed with my Deck for the past 18 months and now Valve has announced a whole new generation of the device with the Steam Deck OLED. It’s a great time for them to do so with the ROG Ally showing off the same kind of portable gaming tech to the mainstream with a far brighter screen, while the Lenovo Legion GO just launched and features a bright screen and detachable left and right controllers.

EA and Codemasters have announced that EA SPORTS WRC has receive a major patch that addresses many bug fixes across the recently released game. A lot of the fixes are technical and includes shader pre-compiling support to reduce stuttering and improvements to framerates in key areas.
