Mortal Kombat 1 marks the latest entry in the blood-soaked fighting series, and it looks to deliver a satisfying fresh dose of ultraviolence for longtime fans. In addition to a new tag-team mechanic that lets you pair a main character with a backup “Kameo” fighter, you can look forward to an epic all-new story, regular seasonal updates that will add new Invasion mode missions, and more.
This latest entry in the Mortal Kombat series is very much a live-service game, and as such, the game has a rather baffling array of currencies, all of which serve a unique purpose and can be earned in different ways. Thankfully, we’re here to take some of the mystery out of the process (and keep you from accidentally spending any real money if you don’t want to). Scroll on for a full rundown of all of Mortal Kombat 1’s various currencies…
Koins are probably the most common currency you will accumulate in the game, and are represented by a gold coin symbol. They’re exclusively used in the “Shrine” which is basically a gacha system where you can claim randomized prizes, including cosmetics and some unique rewards like concept art. Each randomized prize will cost you 1000 Koins.
How do you earn Koins?
You get Koins from pretty much everything you do in Mortal Kombat 1. Story mode, Invasion mode, Towers, online multiplayer, daily and weekly quests, you name it. Another thing not to overlook, is that completing all of MK1’s training challenges will net you quite a large number of Koins (over 40,000 of them).
Seasonal Kredits are earned in-game via various means and represented by a silver coin symbol. Your Kredits can be spent in the Seasonal Items section of the Mortal Kombat 1 store on a variety of limited-time cosmetics.
How do you earn Seasonal Kredits?
You’ll earn Seasonal Kredits in Invasion mode, online, and by completing daily and weekly quests.
And this would be your premium currency, which you have to buy with real money. These can be spent on Premium Items in the Mortal Kombat 1 store, which include cosmetics as well as some gameplay helpers, like Easy Fatality Tokens.
How do you earn Dragon Krystals?
Aside from a limited number you’ll get for finishing Story mode, you’ve got to buy them. You can get 500 Krystals for $5, 1,150 for $10, 2,500 for $20, and 5,600 for $40. Princes on the things you can buy range, but generally, a full skin will cost you between 600 and 800 Krystals.
Yes, there is actually one last currency, just to confuse things further. This one is only found in Invasion mode though, to be used in that mode’s shops on consumable items and the like. They’re not really part of MK1’s live service ecosystem.
There you go – Mortal Kombat 1’s live service currencies demystified. Go forth, and don’t spend too

The WGA strike is over, which means TV production is gearing back up again. But new premieres never fully stopped, either; most networks or streaming platforms had some shows already finished and scheduled, so we might not feel the full effects of the work stoppage for a bit. Shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons are still going strong — premiering this week on Fox, but out now on some streaming services — but network TV is offering up some new stuff as well. Take Found, NBC’s procedural about finding missing people, which premieres Oct. 3.
Mortal Kombat 1’s Player 1 advantage issues came to light recently, with developer NetherRealm Studios confirming promptly afterwards that the issue would be addressed with the game’s upcoming patch. And though it’s arrived a little later than expected due to unexpected server issues last week, that patch is out now.

A highly important yet understated aspect of a fighting game is The Announcer. The voice that says every character and stage when they are selected adds that extra bit of style that can really make a game stand out in your memory. Mortal Kombat 1 has a strong default Announcer with a booming sound that prepares you for the violent encounter that is about to unfold. That being said, the game does give you the ability to change the voice of The Announcer to members of the cast, though you will need to unlock them first. Some of you might even have some of these alternate voices unlocked but don’t know how to apply them while others will want to know how to get every announcer in the game. So, allow me to explain both. This guide will tell players how to change the voice of The Announcer and how to unlock new voices in Mortal Kombat 1.
While fighting games live and breathe in their competitive scene, The Mortal Kombat series has built a strong reputation for its single player offerings and that is no different in Mortal Kombat 1. The latest entry in the long-running franchise once again provides a cinematic story mode which has appeared in all of the games developed by NetherRealm Studios but also introduces the new Invasion mode. This new offering gives players hours of battles and content to grind through to earn new items and cosmetics. Before jumping in, allow me to break it down so you know what to expect. This guide will provide players with a full explanation of the new single player Invasion mode in Mortal Kombat 1.
A vast open world, base building, and Dwarven ingenuity await you in Polish developer Star Drifters’ action RPG First Dwarf. During PAX West, I was lucky enough to score some ample time with the base-builder, and this multi-faceted game has a lot to offer both single and co-op players – but don’t call it a survival game!
